Our ship went by about 11:pm and it is the second Volcano we have had the luck to see at night. Hawiaii and Montserrat.

I did not have a high speed film and just got a few little shots from the digital.

Not sure why this is on St Lucia thread but .....

We were on 11/26 Serenade sailing and the evening we left Antigua (Montserrat is 21 miles off Antiguan coast) it was just getting dark (5:30-6:00) and as we were walking to dinner (early seating) we saw the red glow from the volcano. We were late to dinner :D as we stood out and watched.... it was neat. All day long while touring Antigua we could see steam/cloud plume over Montserrat. On the return trip (from Barbados up to San Juan) the captain took us very very close to the other side where with our bincolulars we could see everything of what was left of the city after the eruption and flow.

Also did tour on St. Lucia to the volcano and it was also pretty neat.... no lava but black water bubbling up from under the rocks in pools and stinky ;) Was amazing to think we were standing in the caldera.

You can go to the weather website www.weather.com and get the time for sunrise/sunset for anywhere in the world. Or try www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
