Dancing Shoes Posted December 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2022 How long does it take, once we enter this fjord to see the 7 Sisters waterfall? I have been told to be up and on deck to catch all the sights. Cruise May 20-27. I presume it will be light out. We leave Geiranger @ 5 pm
hallasm Posted December 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) Correct. You can see the waterfall from the ship - to the left just before you arrive into Geiranger or to the right just after setting sail from Geiranger. The whole sailing through the fjords into Geiranger takes 5 to 6 hours - I would suggest you are up at sunrise to enjoy sailing into the deep fjord. Same route in the evening but often there is dinner and many activities. Sunrise 04:15 am and sunset 10:45 pm. Entry into Geiranger just at the start of my video and departure at 2m8sec Edited December 20, 2022 by hallasm
Rare ski ww Posted December 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2022 Beautiful video, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to our 14 day Norway cruise in July, although this will not be one of our ports of call.
Capt_BJ Posted December 20, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) a little geography answers your question: Seven Sisters , or Dei sju systrene , is less then 4 nautical miles sailing from the floating pier at Geiranger or in other words probably no more than 20 - 30 minutes sailing time either before you get there or on departure .... The transit from sea to Geir' is 60 nautical miles in round numbers. If the ship were to steam at 15 knots that would be a 4 hour transit . . . side bar ... on our last visit - in mid summer - 'runoff' was very diminished and of the 7 sisters only THREE had visible flow . . . Dancing Shoes Posted December 21, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted December 21, 2022 Thank you. I will try and be up at sunrise and will definitely not plan anything during our sail out. Looking forward to the wrap around promenade deck on HAL. I picked a May 20-May 27 date especially for more water flow in this fall and others.

Yes, late May and beginning of June is a good time - snow in the mountains and water in the rivers.
