LittleJoefromKokomo Posted January 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2023 I am considering taking a 4 day Bahamas cruise from Fort Lauderdale or Miami to get the needed 7 points to reaching Diamond before my next "real" 7 night cruise in August. But to do so would need an upgrade from an OV or interior (which I have many offers from Club Royale) to a Junior Suite and I wonder what the approximate cost for that upgrade would be on a 4 day, mon-fri cruise on either Freedom from Miami or Independence from Fort Lauderdale? I am halfhearted considering this, to travel into Florida some days earlier to squeeze a possible 4 night cruise in before our 7 night anniversary cruise. Has anyone upgraded a comped 4 night cruise or have any idea about what it would cost? Also this would almost make it a B2B but not really since we would disembark on friday and board on saturday so I don't know if the C&A status would have time to reflect the new status before the second cruise started. Possibly the C&A folks onboard could help with that?
bajathree Posted January 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2023 To go from a casino comp Interior or OV to a JS isn't going to be a cheap upgrade. If you want to get a rough estimate look at what the difference in price currently is between an OV and JS on whatever sailing you are interested in and thats around what it will cost. sandebeach Posted January 13, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2023 If you and your wife both have offers, each book a room on that cruise and then, as a solo, you would get two points per night.

Ok, thanks for the advice, will look there. I thought that maybe the casino rates were different than normal bookings?

No, unfortunately not, I am the only one of us playing in the casino.
TYMAN Posted January 13, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) We both are Prime so we use our two Interiors to book an OV. We then upgrade for around $200 a piece for a balcony. I've priced the upgrade to a JS before and it was in the Thousands.....our son also moves from an Interior to a Balcony (we do connecting balconies so it's a 2br 2ba "suite' ha). As a solo he normally pays around $400 for the upgrade. PS......we've done about twenty casino comped cruises. jbjunior Posted January 13, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2023 we are doing this same thing yet this January on freedom 4 day out of miami with a casino royale offer. we're also getting close to diamond so i wanted the double points and also wanted to stay in a new room (the junior suites on deck 11 were just added in 2020 and are brand new). we had a free interior or OV offer and paid $1k total for my wife and i to upgrade, the room was listed online for $1,900 so I feel pretty good about it, also booked through our travel agent for $50 each in additional onboard credit. nolimits Posted January 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Call and ask. Casino rates sometimes are Cheap according to dates and ship I upgraded from inside to GS for 400$ last year
LeeW Posted January 13, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Normally takes about a week for points to get recorded. You will want to take cruise docs/card from first cruise to second cruise Loyalty Ambassador who may get them applied quickly and give you updated status on second cruise. Doesn't always work, though.

This is similar to what I saw in difference when I compared OV and JS, I got it down to about $
