Rare Jack E Dawson Posted February 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2023 I know this is a long shot but would anyone knows if the passenger cabins on the Queen Mary (not the Queen Mary 2) ALL had en suite bathrooms? Thanks Jack
chengkp75 Posted February 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2023 From what I can see on the as built deck plans: https://www.sterling.rmplc.co.uk/visions/decks.html The second and third class cabins had a sink in the stateroom (not in a separate bath), and about 60% of the second class cabins had a private toilet, the rest, and all third class cabins used common toilet facilities.
Rare Jack E Dawson Posted February 3, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2023 Thanks chengkp75. Your link is excellent. I tried to Google this but with no success. My Mom and Dad sailed on the QM in the late 50's but I have no idea which class they were in. In the picture below, taken by my Dad, my Mom is centered. The second picture is of their cabin but I can't tell which level it is on. Both pictures were taken on embarkation day. Jack
chengkp75 Posted February 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2023 If you look at the "First Class staterooms and suites-A deck", the photo of a "special stateroom" , the far corner looks very similar to your photo, with the two port lights, and the round AC vent.
exlondoner Posted February 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2023 I know it was a little earlier, but I feel the need for Groucho Marx in the cabin picture. 😀 1

I remember seeing my sister and her new husband off on Queen Elizabeth II in 1969 - a great party. A lot of changes in recent years have not been improvements.
