What time does your ship arrive?  What time do they suggest?

It takes about an hour by car to get to the airport from the port at Civitavecchia.  If your flight is direct to the States you need to be at the airport three hours prior to departure.  If you will change planes somewhere within the Schengen zone prior to your transatlantic flight you will need to be at the airport two hours prior.

@euro cruiserasks some very good questions. Assume you will be traveling back to NJ? Are you willing to book a private transfer? There are many threads here on flights out of FCO. I just wrote a detailed one a week ago.

In most cases this means the first passengers can get off between 6 - 6:30, which puts them at the airport between 7 - 7:30.  The earliest I would consider for a direct flight to the States would be 11, or only shortly before.

I think most ships in that situation start letting pax off between 6:30 and 7. If you can be first off the ship, 10:30 would be the earliest I would consider.

That being said, when schedules come out, the airlines might have flights scheduled between 10:30 and 11, only to drop the departure back to something like 10am as they tweak and tune their schedules. And then you will be back asking if you can make this earlier flight. I would say no. As frequently discussed here, FCO is a very poorly organized airport.
