SmokeyPearl Posted March 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2023 Good morning! I am planning an Alaska cruise on the Eclipse. This will be my second cruise. My first cruise was about 6 years ago on RCC. The Celebrity website says that there is a "hot tub" on the RS balcony. Is this an actual hot tub that is temperature controlled? It looks more like a jacuzzi bathtub. My apologies if this has already been covered on the boards. I've had no luck finding any posts about this. Thank you! raudacruise Posted March 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) On my recent Silhouette cruise the RS “hot tub” was a bathtub with jets. Can’t imagine using it cruising Alaska. Edited March 27, 2023 by raudacruise
jelayne Posted March 27, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2023 You are correct it is more like a jacuzzi tub than a hot tub. We haven’t used it ( thought just grosses me out). Friend did try it and said it cooled down quickly.
SmokeyPearl Posted March 27, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted March 27, 2023 Thank you both for this information. I can't imagine using it in Alaska either.
Cruising89143 Posted March 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2023 We found the so called “hot tub” a huge waste of space. As stated, it’s a bathtub with jets. IMHO it took up a lot of valuable space on the balcony.
SmokeyPearl Posted March 27, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted March 27, 2023 A private hot tub in Alaska was a big draw for me. An outdoor bathtub, not so much!
Rare Jim_Iain Posted March 27, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2023 The good thing is that in the RS you also have one of the same size inside in your Bathroom. I agree that the one on the deck is a waste of space but have used it a couple times. Was just nice soaking in hot water while watching the ocean go by.
peanut head Posted March 27, 2023 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2023 Like Jim, we have used the outdoor bathtub and it is nice to just sit and soak and watch the world go by....
CruisersTimesThree Posted March 27, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2023 My husband loves relaxing in the balcony “hot tub” with a bottle of wine and a plate of snacks while he waits for me to get ready for the evening, usually on sea days.

Very disappointed to hear the hot tub is not a true hot tub. Oh well, I will just have to make due with the large balcony on Celebrity Summit. Hope the butler can bring me free (included in price) drinks to the balcony. Laura

Laura If Alex is your butler, he will do pretty much anything you ask of him. His pat answer to a request is, "Of course."
Rare groryjm Posted March 27, 2023 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2023 I loved the views from the hot tub on Silhouette when in Norwegian fjords. After a trip up the cable car into the snow then there is nothing better than a lovely hot soak in the bubbles with a drinkie watching the mountains.... perfection
Gasdoc Posted March 31, 2023 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2023 Will be sailing aboard Equinox this summer in a RS. Will be enjoyable to use the balcony tub as a “cool”tub in the heat of July.
emelle Posted March 31, 2023 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) Sailed in most S class ships in RS. The balcony tub is a large bathtub with jets. Not temperature controlled. Does cool off....all said, I've used it on a cruise to Antarctica....Warmth lasted just long enough so I got out before I "wrinkled" up. Your milage may vary. There is a hot tub in the Retreat, I just prefer my own. Have fun! Edited March 31, 2023 by emelle
Rare DCPIV Posted April 1, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 1, 2023 My wife loves that tub. She probably spends a couple hours per day it. Not at all a waste of space, especially considering how much space you have with the RS balcony. As mentioned, it is not temperature controlled, but it does run hot water if you like. Alaskan cruises aren't always frigid. You may find you enjoy the tub very much.

We had one warm afternoon on an otherwise cool rainy Alaska cruise on Eclipse last July. Very much enjoyed using the hot tub, bathtub with jets or whatever you want to call it.
CharlieCharlieCharlie Posted April 2, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 2, 2023 It’s good to just keep partially draining and refilling with hot water as it cools. It’s a great thing about Royal, Penthouse and on Reflection, Signature suites.
