leics_damo Posted April 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Does anyone who is on the Seashore or has sailed on her recently have any information or update when they expect the Bridge of Sighs to be repaired and open again? We cruise in 3 weeks so kinda hoping it will be sorted by then!
Paphillyguy Posted April 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2023 We have been on the Seashore 2 times last year and both times the bridge was closed due to cracks.
Two Wheels Only Posted April 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2023 I've seen cracks on the Bridge of Sighs and on the Infinity Bridge for both Seaside and Seashore but the cracks were never severe enough for either to be closed. That's messed up if any of them are closed. Repairing might not be the issue if getting it inspected is the problem. I would imagine that the insurance company needs everything to be double, triple, and quadruple checked before letting guests walk across again. They should make it like the one in Squid Game.
paddy1112 Posted April 19, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Currently on seashore. Bridge still closed. One of the glass elements is splintered completely. Like the rear or side windows of a car can do.
sclaren Posted April 20, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2023 We are leaving on the MSC Seashore April 28th. To bad we won't be able to go on the bridge 😞 Does anybody know what kind of Motto parties will be? Just white and Gala? Thank you Sarah
leics_damo Posted April 20, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2023 Am leaving on 5th May, so not hopeful it will be fixed. Usually it's white party, Gala night, space silent disco, tropical/flower party and Latin/Italian night
Rare PTC DAWG Posted April 20, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2023 IF it failed once, it can fail again. I'm gonna pass. 🙂
leics_damo Posted April 20, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted April 20, 2023 It's degrees of 'fail' at no point was the structural integrity of the bridge ever in question, it's made up of multi layered glass panels, only the top surface 'splintered', probably due to someone dropping something heavy on it like a phone/camera etc...it's shatter proof glass so it basically just cracks into lots of very small pieces but still held together by a laminate coating. These splinters are hazardous obviously as you don't want bits of glass everywhere, but the actual bridge itself is perfectly safe. You could walk on it now and it take your weight and actually be perfectly safe, it's only the bits of glass that cause the hazard. They are most likely just waiting for the replacement pane to be manufactured, shipped/fitted and signed off
leics_damo Posted April 20, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted April 20, 2023 I believe there is also a Gatsby party (1920's) to the person that asked about party themes
paddy1112 Posted April 20, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2023 As you expect from an italien ship it is quite easy to get on the bridge. Nobody controlling the closure. At least in the evening.
