LB_NJ Posted June 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2023 Any thoughts on taking the Celebrity Eclipse out of New Jersey to Bermuda with children ages 4 and 6? This would be the children's first cruise.
RichYak Posted June 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2023 (edited) With a 4 and 6 yo, particularly first timers, I'd probably be more inclined to sail Royal out of Bayonne instead of Celebrity. Edited June 2, 2023 by RichYak spelling
Rare 1025cruise Posted June 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2023 What are your concerns, the ship or the itinerary? Personally, with kids that age, I'd go Royal over Celebrity.

This would be the children's first cruise. I think that this cruise would be great for your children. Celebrity has an excellent kids program on board for kids in that age range. I think they would also enjoy the wonderful Bermuda beaches. The kids will have a blast and you will enjoy it, too. We have taken our two kids on Celebrity cruises since they were 3 years old and 7 months old, respectively. Their 6th cruise was to Bermuda and they loved it. ymncruise Posted June 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2023 We sailed a lot on celebrity when my son was at those ages. He really enjoyed it. The kids would probably like Royal better when they are old enough to participate in activities by themselves.
homedepot124 Posted June 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2023 The issue with taking RCCL to Bermuda is they are not there for three days like Celebrity.
Rare prmssk Posted June 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2023 They will have a great time on Celebrity. At 4 and 6, they are likely too small to take advantage of all the activities on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity still has a great kids' club. As someone who cruised as a child and who cruises with my niece and nephew regularly, I personally think the water slides, zip lines, etc. matter a lot less than people think. Sign them up for the kids' club, bring things they enjoy to do for quieter times (books, writing/drawing utensils, etc.), and then take them to interesting places and they will have a great time.
cyntil8ing Posted June 3, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2023 We took our kids, then 5 and 8, to Bermuda for their first Celebrity cruise in 2011. They loved it. We did it twice more after that, and also a handful of other X ships and itineraries. Celebrity is awesome for the little ones. Lots of family activities — bingo, family silent disco, scavenger hunts, talent shows. They were too young for the water slides and zip lines then. The kids club was more sedate and less crowded, which fit their personalities better. Lots of great fun for littles in Bermuda. Our first trip, we went to the zoo and aquarium and rented a small boat to tool around and visit the Vixen shipwreck. They still talk about jumping off the boat. On another trip, we went to Crystal Caves and Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. The beaches, of course, were huge hits every trip. We switched over to mostly Royal and Carnival for summer cruises when they were 10 and 13, but they still love Celebrity. If Celebrity didn’t switch over to New England in August, we would be coming back this year. Instead, we will be returning to Bermuda on Carnival. Can’t wait! ijscheer Posted June 3, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2023 If you're there on a Wednesday, the kids will love Harbor Night, which runs from June through August, in Hamilton. Especially the Gombey dancers. You can easily get to Hamilton on the ferry. Check out the Bermuda Travel website for more information.
