I got a fan that looks almost identical and didnt realize some might get confiscated. I will be sure to look for that label. Thanks!
Rare moposh Posted June 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I saw someone going through security with a fan. I don't know if they got it on board or not.
Ret MP Posted June 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I just bring a Geisha along and get fanned all night long. Don't have to worry about getting through the terminal and visiting the naughty desk.

Odd they took away clippers. Makes me wonder, do "they" take away fingernail clippers OR did Mrs. @lenquixote66 fall victim to an untrained and/or power-hungry 'rent a cop"? I don't know but it sure doesn't sit well with me.

Unfortunately, the "Prohibited Items List" is so generalized, it makes it almost meaningless. No help whatsoever for issues like this.
sailor05 Posted June 7, 2023 #17 Share Posted June 7, 2023 Try searching Amazon for a travel pedestal fan. I LOVE them because they fold up small for the suitcase but unfold and telescope up tall enough to be on the floor. This way they need to be on a table and very flexible where they can be put. Rare shof515 Posted June 7, 2023 #18 Share Posted June 7, 2023 i cruise with a battery operated fan. it does not plug in. when i cruised on the oasis last month out of NJ, security told me to take it out of my bag for them to inspect the fan. very strange
The Scurvy Pirate Posted June 7, 2023 #19 Share Posted June 7, 2023 I have a small clip desk fan that I put in the checked luggage. In 5+ cruises I have never had any issues. It is a 110v U.S. plug in fan and not a USB (don't know why the type of plug in would necessarily make a difference).

TIA Is this plug in only or battery as well? I assume they could be considered fire hazards if lithium rechargeable and left plugged in and running? IDK. I’m surprised they don’t explicitly ban any such lithium batter type of appliance just out of extreme caution. The fires they create are insanely difficult to contain. Larger lithium batteries will burn for potentially days even after suppressing it. Not a good scenario on a ship.

I am not sure how successful the cruise lines would be if they banned all cell phones.

I always request a fan before my trip. And they aren’t always available. Depends on the ship. January I had requested a fan. And they didn’t have one for me. They asked me if I wanted to go buy one for me at port. PR. I said I’ll manage.
