Dry dock question.

My understanding is that the Century is going into dry dock this spring. It has been several years since I have cruised with Celebrity. Are their any other ships that have recently gone through a dry dock? Where can I find information about what will be happening to the Century? Thank you so much for your help.

I think all the ships go to dry dock every couple of years or so. I think this is mostly for mechanical maintenance (hence the need for a dry dock), and generally there is some interior work done as well - but not often a full refurbishment.

 

The Century dry dock they are discussing looks extremely extensive and will include quite a bit of refurbishment and major modifications to the customer accommodation areas of the ship. This is very unusual. There was a similar refurbishment done to RCCL's Sovereign of the Seas a couple of years ago. In fact someone made a documentary on it which shows on cable (TLC or Travel Channel) every now and then called "Dry dock: A Cruise Ship Reborn". I have the impression the Century project for next year is similar in scope.
