cookiersmom Posted June 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2023 Will be in suite for first time. Trying to understand how dining in Luminae is organized? Are there shared tables? Can you have same wait staff each night? Can we reserve a late dining time? Thanks
Northern Aurora Posted June 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2023 Luminae doesn't have early or late seatings. Folks arrive when they are ready to dine. There are no "formal" shared tables, but if you ask to be seated with new friends or family you will be seated together. And yes, you can have the same wait staff each night.

Thanks Luminae doesn’t take reservation (unless there are unusual circumstances like a very large party)
soniam Posted June 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2023 When we had a suite and ate in Luminae, the first night, the maitre'd asked if we would be dining at the same time every night. We didn't exactly dine at the same time, but it was pretty close to it. I think it just allowed them to ensure our table/staff each night. They may not ask though.
jelayne Posted June 23, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2023 If you show up with some others as a party they will seat you together but unlike the MDR they don’t offer shared tables.
jalves Posted June 23, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2023 There are tables of various sizes in Luminae. Your party will all be seated at a table appropriate for its size. You will not have the same table each night. It all depends on when you arrive and what tables are available then. It's possible that you'll have the same people wait on you as the staff is fairly small. I don't believe reservations are available.
CruiseCrew123 Posted June 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2023 You may not have the same table but they do try and place you with the same wait staff 2
Rare chemmo Posted June 23, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2023 Generally there are not shared tables in Luminae. If you arrive as a two or four or larger family group that is how you will be seated. If you want to dine with others, the best thing to do is chat to others in the Retreat lounge and if you meet any like minded people simply go as a four or six to the restaurant and they will seat you together. If you want to dine as a group bigger than six I would recommend 2 x 4 not a table for 8. I simply recommend this as there are no circular tables so talking across table becomes difficult and can also end up being noisy for other guests. Another way to organise dining as a group can be through your roll call. Ask if there are any fellow suite cruisers who would like to dine with you one or two nights. If some none suite guests would like to experience Luminae you can speak to the M’D who will try to organise this for you. There is a charge and generally this is paid for by the suite guest but I am sure that the none suite guest could arrange to pay.

We did not sit in the same seat - but we did have the same waitstaff for the entire cruise for all meals. We showed up to lunch and a couple we had met was there, they were very accomodating to let us sit togther. The staff in Luminae was great. The food IMO was good but not great. The selections are limited but you can ask for other items and they will try to get it for you.
