Smoking areas on E-Class include Outdoor next to Eden, Deck5 Aft, Port Side; Sunset Bar, Deck 15 Aft, Starboard Side;Outdoor next to the Pool Bar, Deck 15 Midship, Starboard Side. So there is smoking allowed at parts of the Sunset Bar on Beyond. 1
Rare Smmessineo Posted July 10, 2023 #528 Share Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) On S class and E class ships, one side of the Sunset bar is designated smoking. I haven't seen signs on any outdoor areas, but he daily program usually has info on the first page explaining the smoking areas for that sailing. Thanks @WrittenOnYourHeart for explaining it more fully....I was typing too slow😀 Edited July 10, 2023 by Smmessineo

Even more, I appreciate your attitude and consideration when enjoying a good cigar. Your comments are refreshing, and I am sure that they reflect the thoughts and feelings of many smokers. It is really quite easy to acquiesce, allowing enjoyment for all concerned, without threat or coercion. Couldn't agree more...
CruisinBanka Posted July 10, 2023 #531 Share Posted July 10, 2023 I sent my original email to Executive office of Celebrity last Thursday to voice my dissatisfaction with the vaping “test” and received a canned response on Friday. I replied with my further dissatisfaction to their generic response and to add to my concerns about allowing vaping indoors. Today I received another email that was more personalized and said they were unable to reach me by phone ( they had the wrong number listed) but would like to speak with me. I emailed them my correct number and they called within an hour. I would like to commend Celebrity on their efforts to at least reach out and allow me to voice my concerns. The call was recorded and she was documenting my concerns. I came away with the impression that this is going to be a “majority rules”program and it is going to take a valiant effort by anti smokers/vapors to contact Celebrity by email or phone to stop indoor smoking/vaping from becoming permanent. 3

I got a response from Aurora and she said she wanted to schedule a phone conversation with me but she didn't call at the agreed upon time. I guess I've said my piece both on board last week and in my post cruise survey.

def0715 Posted July 10, 2023 #535 Share Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) I received a phone call late last week a day or two after sending an email after being part of the vaping experiment on the Equinox from June 24-July 2, which included getting cherry bombed by a guy vaping in the casino. Not sure I want a possible repeat on my July 30 Equinox sailing. I don’t know if I’ll keep my booking. As I explained to the woman who called, among many other things, at least on Royal, etc. I know what I’m getting before I step on a ship. No smoking/vaping was a very big Celebrity selling point for me, as I spend too much time in the casino. It was definitely a very distinguishing policy. Perhaps Celebrity's response to you should have been: "Dear Celebrity Guest, because you spend too much time in the casino, perhaps you should consider vaping as an enhancement to your gambling experience." "We can't guarantee you more success, but we can assure you that losing will be much more enjoyable."

Thanks to FLYnSail for the reminder to go to the source and email Blue Chip Club. They are probably the ones saying that it isn't negatively affecting anyone. So, as someone who plays a lot and brings friends who play a lot... maybe a complaint will at least get into the right place. The casino. My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is unless they're getting many of their high rollers to complain, the casino, who most likely came up with the vape idea, cares even less than the Exec Office. As others pointed out, it's pretty telling that they removed the vaping signs but still allow it

I emailed again yesterday forwarding my previous unanswered email to executive office to Laura - and my previous unanswered email to Laura to the executive office, each with some additional comment, as well as asking three questions. I received responses from both overnight, neither one answered any of my questions. The executive office was the canned one, while the one from Laura was a little more personal. I have asked you to consider the comments and stories from people complaining about smelling, having allergic reactions to, and/or being otherwise negatively affected by vaping. You have asserted that really discreet and considerate vapers can do it without anyone noticing. You haven't responded to people's actual stories except by getting bent out of shape at anyone arguing about vaping being as bad as smoking. Forget the comparison to smoking. Please provide your alleged research about all particulates not going anywhere except your own lungs. What people are angry at is what appears to us to be a highly delusional notion that vaping absolutely cannot affect, or be detected by, anyone else nearby. The discussion isn't about vaping in general--it is whether vaping should be allowed in the casino. Almost everyone has conceded it can still be in the outdoor areas. You complain about the negative reactions to your posts, but you have never explained why people who have enjoyed "fume-free' casinos for decades on Celebrity should tolerate this change. Provide proof it cannot affect anyone else (including unpleasant odors) and I for one will happily drop my objections to your arguments. Very well written! Indeed, why should people who have enjoyed "fume-free' casinos for decades on Celebrity tolerate this change?
Rare bnurick Posted July 10, 2023 #540 Share Posted July 10, 2023 I sent a follow up noting the exact cost of our three cruises in a CS and my asthma. My doctor would not approve of second-hand vape 💨 for me. I play craps every night on a cruise and will switch our bookings to DCL if this is an issue.

That did not really work out. I also remember (in the 80's) when a large corporation I worked for actually built full enclosures for smoking with their own ventilation in the cafeteria. We called them fishbowls. Some airports did the same thing. I guess we as a society are destined to repeat the past without learning from it! My employer did the same thing in the cafeteria. We called it the "death chamber"

I am more curious about how much X expects players to increase their gambling if vaping is allowed. Surely X must have asked vapers this before embarking on its current test programme. For example what will a vaper who previously spent 10K gambling increase that to if they are allowed to vape as they play? Any vapers care to comment? Any increase would then be offset by those who will stop or reduce their time in the casino thereby reducing X's net gain. The same gains/loses would also apply if vaping was to become a permanent fixture as spending by new gamblers who might switch to X would at least be partially offset by passengers who dropped X. I have seen no evidence that X has asked these questions because if they had the Boards and other social media would have been full of comments just as they have immediately the current trial started. I don't think that it is how much more a gambler will spend. I think that it is how many more gamblers X will attract. If you look at the off strip casinos in Vegas they are super smoky. The off strip casinos are where the odds are better than the strip casinos and the gamblers hang out. Some residents come rather close to living in them. Sure they go home at night, but eat and gamble all day there. Who would have thought that one addiction would lead to multiple ... Anyways I think that they are trying to get more gamblers vs having a gambler spend more. And many smoke. I don't smoke and would prefer a smokeless casino. I also gamble very little. But isn't everything these days all about a small but vocal group getting their way in everything? The majority seems to no longer be a factor. Broadcast and social media and marketing and corporations and governments all seem to cater to the small vocal groups over the majority. I am accustomed to this these days. So it would be no surprise if the vaping minority on ships gets their way. 3
