Rare puppycanducruise Posted July 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning and thank you for the Report. A few showers for us today. Lots of fireworks last night. 🎆🎇 Not much on the agenda for us today. An interesting collection of days. Everyday is I Forgot Day it seems. I don't know anything about UFOs. Special Recreation for the Disabled is important. Very true quote. The meal sounds interesting, looking forward to seeing the recipe. The drink sounds wonderful too. I hope the wine is tasty and not expensive. I've never been to today's port. Prayers for many. I hope there are lots of celebrations. Have a wonderful day.
Cruzin Terri Posted July 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good afternoon from the Oceania Marina. We are having an unannounced sea day due to windy conditions and rough seas. Our intended port for today was Skagen, Denmark. I was actually looking forward to wandering around the town today and look at the shops and going back to the museum. Thank you to Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report. Thank you in advance to Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie and Ann. Also special thanks to Graham for posting Father David’s sermon. I will hear it when we get to the next port. As for the days, I forget lots of things. UFOs—Have never seen one. Recreation for the disabled is near and dear to my heart. We are supporters of the Special Olympics. Dearly departed DBIL participated in the Special Olympics for bowling and Bocce. He was quite good at both and so proud when he won a medal. Brought them all to Disney World to show Mickey Mouse. It was precious. It is a cold day on the ship. Yesterday everyone was in shorts and today all the winter gear is out. Looks like it will be that way for a few days. Prayers for everyone on the cares list. Cheers to those celebrating. Been knocked off twice. Better go. God bless, Terri 28

aliaschief Posted July 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) Good morning everyone. Made it to 5:45 this morning after going to bed at nine. I have time for a bit for coffee before getting ready for church. Not much on the agenda today. We are caring for neighbors cat so two trips across the street for feeding and kitty litter tidy. May take advantage and take a dip in their pool. Dieting is still going strong and I’m loosing a couple of pounds a day. Those pounds recently put on during a cruise seem to shed fast then progress slows down. I was going to say something else but I forgot! Thanks Rich and all who contribute. grapau27 Posted July 2, 2023 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good afternoon. It is 68°F and sunny at the beach. We had a lovely church service this morning. Thank you for today's daily reports Rich @richwmn. 3 interesting days. I have read several books and watched programs about UFOs. We have cruised into the nice port of Olbia in Sardinia. I said Prayers 🙏 for our care list people in church. I hope everyone is safe and well and having a great day. 29
RedneckBob Posted July 2, 2023 #11 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Thanks for the Fleet Update and General Info. UFO Day. I believe. Well just a couple of years ago I think I was abducted by aliens. Taken to this hospital, escorted into this cold dark room, and these people in masks proceeded to insert a probe in my behind. They had to be aliens to do this to a human! 👽👽👽 5
StLouisCruisers Posted July 2, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning friends! It is sunny now, 70F with a bit a fog in the low spots. High will be 93, partly cloudy and a chance of thunderstorms later today. We had some thunderstorms last evening. AQI is 26 which is very good. Thank you Rich @richwmn for our Sunday Daily and Fleet Report and also to Graham @grapau27 for Father David's sermon. I'll listen to it after I finish here. I hope I don't end up saying I Forgot today, and remember everything I'm supposed to. I haven't seen a UFO either and hope not to. And of course I support Special Recreation for the Disabled Day along with the rest of you. 🥇 I'm not a fan of risotto, and think Endless Summer Punch is quite appropriate during the hot days of July.🍹 The wine sounds nice but probably expensive. Thanks to our Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for telling us about them. Who knew that in 1679 "tourists" from Europe visited Minnesota? Amazing! Just kidding! Time to say my prayers for the extensive Care list and hope we see improvement for everyone. 🙏 We didn't hear from Annie @marshhawk and Chuck @catmando yesterday as far as I can recall so I hope all is well there. Huge storms in Atlanta yesterday, too. She may have lost power. Ours only went out for an instant down this way. The Celebration list is much shorter and I hope we can find many new and exciting events in our lives to celebrate. 🎉🎈🥂 Happy sailing to our cruisers and my wish is for more cruises coming up in the near future to watch and celebrate. 🚢 The port today is Olbia in Sardinia, Italy. We've seen that port here twice before, Oct. 15, 2021 and April 10, 2022. I've never been there before so have no photos to share but hope you can find yours and post them for us. I wish we could have some different ports, for instance Cagliari in Sardinia which has not been chosen before. I'm sure many of you would appreciate seeing some new places. Here are the links: Well, since it's Sunday I didn't work out this morning. Time to start my Sunday chore of laundering sheets and re-making the bed. If it weren't so warm and humid outside we could do a little crepe myrtle pruning and pulling any weeds in the pine straw. Speaking of outside, this summer we've enjoyed seeing several deer visiting behind our home at the bottom of the slope. They go there to munch on the vegatation down there. Every day we see a couple of young bucks with antlers growing plus a female or two who accompany them. And for the first time, we've been seeing them staying put for a long time, lying down and just enjoying themselves. This morning they are back and I see the males lying in the grass under the trees waiting for golfers to come by on the cart path. They are usually not noticed lying there, but today they are near the cart path so will probably have golfers stopping to look at them. Those deer are my entertainment this summer.🦌 I've noticed the antlers are getting longer and branching making more points. Fascinating to see this happening right under my nose. Hope you all have a great Sunday! 27
cat shepard Posted July 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Another lovely start to the day. My pool got a great deal of use yesterday. Those are the days that make it worth staying here. Lots of deer activity, too. Mom and the twins seemed to hang around the entire day. Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings. Gym, Aldi, Bindi walks, chores & pool time. Should keep me busy. Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877, Terry praying that Lou continues to recover, and that you and the entire clan are able to rest. @luvteaching, Karen praying that you & Jeff find peace and comfort each day. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone. ******** Château Talbot St.-Julien 2019 The critics agree that this blend would benefit from a few years of aging, but has excellent cellar potential. Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $68.88. Winemaker Notes #4 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2022 Blend: 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot The Barrel Sample for this wine is above 14% ABV. WE96 Wine Enthusiast A rich, spicy and smoky wine, this has generous tannins to balance the blackberry fruit flavors. The structure is already impressive, showing ripeness as well as density, which is promising for plenty of aging. Barrel Sample: 94-96 JS95 James Suckling A juicy, fruity wine with lots of blue fruit, blackberries and dark chocolate. Pretty depth and structure to this. Polished and structured at the same time. Barrel Sample: 94-95 WS95 Wine Spectator Well-built and rather refined for the vintage, with a deep well of red and black currant paste and plum reduction flavors supported by a deeply inlaid iron note, all of which run the length of the wine. Offers subtle savory, tobacco and singed cedar notes that add range, with a savory echo that leaves a mouthwatering feel in the end. Built to cellar. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2025. D93 Decanter St Julien's largest property at 110ha (up there with Lagrange if you're keeping track), this has lovely plump black fruits on the nose. Takes hold right from the start, with clear tannic build and a silky character to the tannins. This continues the run of good vintages that Talbot has been producing since 2016. Well balanced, with plenty of St Julien character. Tasted twice two weeks apart. Highest ever level of Cabernet Sauvignon at the estate. Harvest 19 September to 8 October. 60% new oak. JD93 Jeb Dunnuck The 2019 Château Talbot is straight-up impressive, sporting a dense purple hue as well as a powerful nose of cassis, scorched earth, smoked tobacco, and spicy wood. Rich, black-fruited, medium to full-bodied, and structured, it's a rock-solid, balanced Saint-Julien that will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and age for 15-20 years. Rating : 93+ Best After 2026 RP93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2019 Talbot is performing well, opening in the glass with aromas of earthy cassis, plums, burning embers and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a savory finish, it's Jean-Michel Laporte's second vintage at this sleeping giant of Saint-Julien. This will be an estate to watch closely going forward. Best after 2027. 22 9

Mr. Boston Posted July 2, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report. Going to be a gray, gloomy and rainy day here today. Every day is I forgot day for me! Today recognizes the importance of recreation for the disabled, hats off to that! UFO’s never fail to capture our imagination. The quote is so true. I like the meal and drink suggestions, we try to have a meatless day once a week. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for those on our prayer list. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today.
Rare ottahand7 Posted July 2, 2023 #17 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning everyone! It is a cool morning and since we left most of the windows open last night it is 65 degrees in the cabin. It will only get to 80 today so we can leave the windows wide open and it will still be pleasant in here. Our fishing yesterday was a flop. John will go out today but I have too much yard work and with a still sore toe my stamina isn't the best. It is healing well and it appears the toenail can start growing back soon. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn. A great day to celebrate disabled people and the Special Olympics has done a great deal to help recognize them. UFOs are out there but I have never seen one. Great quote by Goethe. I haven't been to today's port but I am sure the photos will be wonderful. I will pass on the carb loaded cocktail and the Risotto but the Talbot wine looks like a winner. I haven't paid any attention to Bordeaux pricing since I left Baltimore since the wine stores are dismal here all the while the aged wines we bought on futures in the 90s and early 2000s are being depleted and no way to replace them. @cat shepard thanks for researching these wines for us and I might start shopping retailers that can ship to MI when we get back to civilization to find the next step lower wines as the Talbot and restock. @JazzyV Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations Reports. @smitty34877 I hope that Lou is recuperating well and that you have the help you need for caring for Tana while caring for Lou too. the way the health care system is these days one needs to be at the hospital constantly to make sure loved ones are properly cared for. Prayers for all on our care list and for the people of Ukraine. Prayers for the people killed and wounded in the mass shooting last night in south Baltimore. Have a great Sunday! Rare cruising sister Posted July 2, 2023 #18 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning, Another storm came through last night and cooled things off again. Once it dries out a bit the kids should enjoy playing outside. I almost hate to bring this up as you all will think my life is one big disaster. My 93 yo aunt who lives with my 90 yo aunt fell getting out of a cab on Friday. She has not regained consciousness and is not going to make it. These aunts are beyond eccentric. They have no children and there is one brother left alive. The 90 yo has been living with the 93 yo for the past 4 years in Omaha. She has a rent controlled apartment in NYC she has been paying for and has not been there in 4 years. They are both hoarders to the point there are only walking paths in their apartments. I can only imagine what has taken over in NYC. We have a large family and one of my brothers and two cousins are taking lead. The biggest challenge will be cleaning out the apartments. I told my brother we need to hire it done but how to do it without the consent of the remaining aunt will be the challenge. Who knows what is hidden in all their “treasures”! The powerful caretaking gene is screaming inside of me but I know I am not up to it. Prayers for all and have a good day. 13

Rare rafinmd Posted July 2, 2023 #20 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, Ann, and Graham. No idea what UFO's are; I suspect there is a logical explanation that we have not yet discovered. I think Special Recreation Day coincides this year with some special World Games in Europe. I try not to forget, but often do. I am likely in the minority on the Goethe quote but I have a feeling character development requires a bit of attention and effort. I wonder if there are special celebrations in Minnesota today. I have not been to Olbia. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Tossed Seasonal Greens, Braised Game Hen, and NSA Vanilla ice cream which might have been my choices on MS Zaandam July 2, 2002. Happy Heavenly Birthday to Thurgood Marshall. @ottahand7 do you specifically follow Baltimore events or has that hit National notice? I will take some solace in the thought that miserable person's aftermath were not as bad as might have been. Praying that the death toll stays at 2 but with 3 in critical condition and 25 relatively minor injuries it could have been much worse. dfish Posted July 2, 2023 #23 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Good morning, everyone! My sinuses are very unhappy this morning. I think it is a combination of the humidity and all the rain recently. They are telling me I need to be at sea so the good salt air can heal them. Sounds as good as anything else to me! Three weeks till we're on board and we are getting excited. It is time to haul the suitcases out. @cruising sister I'm sorry to hear that your aunt won't make it. Eccentric sounds like they were a lot of fun, but the hoarding would drive me nuts. I am living with a potential hoarder, but I make her clean things out now and then. Bit by bit we're getting there. @rafinmd The shooting in Baltimore has hit national notice. It saddens me each time I read about another shooting and think that as a society we are unwilling to stop it. Healing thoughts sent out to Lou @smitty34877 and Chuck @catmando, as well as Annie @marshhawk. Hugs to Karen @luvteaching and @bennybear with their recent losses. Also warm thoughts to @StLouisCruisers for her DB and @JazzyV for her friend, Ruth. Healing thoughts for baby Murphy @cruising sister and her upcoming surgery. Today's meal is one I'll skip due to carbs. But for those who can tolerate them and like them, it does sound tasty. It would make a good side dish. We'll start with this recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/85389/gourmet-mushroom-risotto/ The brandy in this one sounds interesting: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/mushroom_risotto/ And this one is made with white wine. https://www.loveandlemons.com/mushroom-risotto/ 19

Roy Roy, I used the laptop today to read the Sunday papers and since John had been using it a lot a Microsoft news page opened full screen and I read it there. The closer we get to visiting Baltimore the more I start following their news. This year it will be around September 23 for the Ravens Colts game. This neighborhood where the block party was going on is an area that I was in rather frequently as a sales manager doing ride alongs with my sales people. There are some really shaky areas in Baltimore, Cherry Hill, Dolphin Street, Mondawmin and areas around Johns Hopkins to name a few. Every big city has them. Really sad to start shooting at people simply having fun. I really feel for people that are stuck living in these areas. The homes are decent, the crime is bad. Thank God there are great hospitals that can absorb that many casualties quickly. 22
