VancuverBC/pre-crusie Sutton Place??

Can anyone tell me if they have stayed at The Sutton Place/and where's a good place to Dine on the waterfront? Or better to rest up?? and eat at hotel (seems abit pricey,rather save $$ for cruise) Thanks for everyone's help along the way!!!:D

I have stayed at the Sutton Place a few times over the last couple of years. It is a very nice hotel and it has recently been updated, service is always very good. The location is wonderful, just around the corner from Robson St, which has lots of shops and great places to eat. You are a short walk or taxi ride to the waterfront, if you have lots of luggage I would go with the taxi.

BUT, how much is the taxi ride from the airport to hotels in this area?

I'm needing a hotel in Vancouver as well and am wondering if it's wiser to stay at an Airport hotel and then hop on the Holland America transportation to the ship? I'd love to stay right by the ship but those hotels are TOO pricey, for sure.

Suggestions/ideas?
