drsel Posted July 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) Is there a table to show the relationship between the amount of money played, the time played and the points / onboard credit received. How much is required to be played in a slot machine using your room card, in order to get $100, $200 etc onboard credit? Does onboard credit received depend on the amount of money played or the amount of money won or the amount of money lost or the time played or? Thanks 👍 Edited July 11, 2023 by drsel
mackfam Posted July 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2023 I am also interested in this and would like to know if you also can earn points playing the tables or is it just on the slots?
Rare JamieLogical Posted July 11, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2023 I can say that when I was on the MSC Meraviglia in April, you just got 1 point per dollar gambled (win/loss was irrelevant) and each cruise had its own points requirement to be eligible for a "free" future cruise. I have a vague recollection that it was 9999 points to receive a free cruise on my 11-day sailing and only 4999 points on my 7-day sailing? Points did not roll over from sailing to sailing. ferretktf Posted July 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2023 I played table games - blackjack at £25 per hand. after 1 session I checked the points I had earned. at £25 level, I would have had to play 14 hours a day, every day of the cruise, in order to hit the 9999 points required to win a free cruise. can’t comment on the slots requirement but unless you are a high roller at the tables, playing £100-£200 hands, it is pretty much unachievable without spending your entire holiday trying to win another holiday!! Yes, you earn on the tables, make sure you give them your cruise card.

Yikes! Guess I’ll just enjoy my cruise, I’m not much of a gambler at the best of times. Once I’m down $50 I’m out!

Once I’m down $50 I’m out! You are never going to earn a "free" cruise on any line if you are only gambling enough to lose $50. Side note: I had always told myself that if I ever got a "free" cruise offer through a cruise casino, I would know I was gambling too much. Well, out of the blue yesterday, I got a postcard from Celebrity's Blue Chip Club offering me a "free" inside room on one of the Oct-Dec sailings on the Eclipse out of LA. Guess I now have to cut back on my cruise gambling!

I never expected to. I was just interested in what level of gambling does get you one.
Rare GPPhilly Posted July 11, 2023 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2023 You definitely earn more points at the slot machines. You get points at the table but not at the rate of the slots.

I was convinced my husband hadn't told me how much he gambled on our last Celebrity cruise after we got a free cruise offer but it turns out they counted our son's bingo winning towards my husband's gambling totals. It was based on time played not dollars spent... or perhaps a combination of that. We had to reach 5000 players points in order to receive a free cruise. DM and I both reached/surpassed the requisite 5000 points on our 4 day sailing. Neither of us came anywhere close to gambling 5k a piece...we always pool our gaming purse and enjoy the wins or losses together. Our purse for the entire trip was far less than the 5K each we would have needed to spend in order to obtain the points. My point is, I don't think there is a hard & fast rule on how the points are acquired.

The thing that is forgotten is the you might put in $20 but if you are winning a little than losing some from the same original $20 but it adds up to maybe $200 through the machine each spin gets points. Also there are double point times that help points add up.

Very good points...and I agree that there a points per dollar spent, I'm just not sure it's an exact dollar for point ratio because I know time is also a factor. I will be the first to admit that I don't really know anything for sure...except that the house always wins..lol.
Paphillyguy Posted July 12, 2023 #15 Share Posted July 12, 2023 From the Rucomped website regarding Dollars through slots for points. The cycled through is getting to my point earlier. To earn loyalty tier points on a slot machine at MSC Cruises, players must cycle through $5.00 dollars per tier point
