Homosassa Posted August 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2023 You are in the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on time of year and water temperature, there will be jellyfish (and sharks and other sea creatures).

March to August is sea lice/ jellyfish season. May to October is seaweed season February March and August September is red tide season. So it appears the best time to swim in the Ocean is November December and January.
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted August 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2023 No shuttle from ship to beach but once inside the gate you can head to a shuttle pavilion to head to all parts of the island. Closest beach is walking distance. It’s all walking distance TBH… just depends on how much walking you want or are able to do. DH doesn’t like to walk in wet attire so we used the shuttle on our way back. Regardless of where you spend the day, you have to walk from the ship to the entrance and can pretty much shuttle anywhere after that.

Even more than that, I hate estate planning in wet attire.

Unless you are swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the Alabama coast. If so, Tide season is September through November. (Plus preseason/postseason, as applicable.) My comment was a jocular reference to Alabama college football, a.k.a. the Crimson Tide (Crimson Tide & red tide). I don't know if actual red tide is an issue on the Alabama Gulf coast. Folks in Alabama do, however, take their collegiate football very seriously. Places close for game viewing, but probably not beaches. 😄 Edited August 14, 2023 by no1talks 1
CruiseScrooge Posted August 15, 2023 #10 Share Posted August 15, 2023 The water was fine when i did a b2b in may. I saw one small turtle and 12 inch fish for a second and plenty of minnows and small fish at the closest beach.
