Rare uktog Posted August 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2023 Particularly as you do not really need to book to go to the Azamazing evening in the first place especially the one in St Maarten which we did last year. There is no transport involved as the event is at the end of the pier

We are looking at an Azamara cruise that appears to have an Azamazing evening there…would love to know what to expect. The description essentially describes it as a night of Caribbean music. Was dinner on the ship or off the ship?

Was dinner on the ship or off the ship? Dinner is always on the ship earlier. The proceedings for the evening usually start about 7 pm or so. Announcements are made and people start going off ship according to decks. There will be lights snacks like rum cake, etc and there will be some sort of themed drinks offered like rum punches with the Caribbean evening. There is a big stage and chairs all set up. The front rows are reserved for suite guests, who usually come off the ship first. There will be steel drums, singers and elaborately costumed dancers, stilt dancers, maybe a marching band, etc. we have been there twice and it was fun both times. Following the end of the evening, there is a special buffet served in Windows cafe.

Mob & gauntlet are two words I’d never associate or personally encountered with Azamara. 7

I agree everywhere else but trying to get through the tight space where the food in Windows is served. It reminds me of that with people moving both directions obtaining the food while others are trying to maneuver between the two lines from both directions just to pass through at peak usage. Yeah I know there's the option to go out on the deck to get around which I sometimes do. Edited September 3 by ChucktownSteve

Hummm... its almost 11 PM, and some people ( most people?) will not be queueing up for more food?
Rare uktog Posted September 4 #12 Share Posted September 4 It all depends when the evening starts and how long any transport took back from the venue. There’s actually less people go to Windows than at the normal lunch time peak because a. The buses come back over a 30 minute span typically- if it’s people walking back the span is longer b. Not everyone is wanting more to eat c. Some go for a drink first some go to eat first We usually enjoy some sandwiches (there is often a favourite cheese and pickle on) out on the veranda watching the returners and usually the ship getting ready to go 3
Rare ghstudio Posted September 4 Author #13 Share Posted September 4 For those that are inflexible or refuse to wait for others, these type of nights should be skipped. It's not a mob scene, but there are 4-500 or so people so at times, there may be a line....and you may not have a perfect seat in the 5th row center. Try to relax and just enjoy the fact that you're having a nice, somewhat unique, experience. Try to ignore the "special people" (who have anointed themselves as special) and just enjoy the evening. 4
