Rare mrell345 Posted September 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2023 How does the Muster work now ? I am seeing a few things that indicate you just have to visit your muster station and watch a video somewhere after boarding ? Do they track if you have done it by your medallion ? MissP22 Posted September 4, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2023 The best thing is that you can watch it on your phone..... only if you promise to pay attention. 😉😉 3

However, they don't make you watch it. They make you play it on your tv or your app, but no one is checking to make sure you're watching. 1 1
1965 Posted September 4, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) We watch it on our TV while unpacking then ck in at our muster station. You can watch it on your phone but I've never done that, don't know how. Apparently they do track to confirm you did it. Easy to watch on phone while having a drink
Rare david63 Posted September 4, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2023 Nobody has to watch the video all that they need to do is have it playing in the vicinity of their medallion
JG&Lcruisingnewbies Posted September 4, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2023 We popped to our muster station as soon as we got onboard. Then watched the video when we were in the cabin, about 1pm. It knew, thanks to the medallion, we were all in the room and marked all of us as having watched once it had finished. We’d never sailed with Princess & watched it all. There were 2 announcements made over the course of the afternoon telling people how many onboard hadn’t watched it and/or visited their muster station so far and warned us they wouldn’t sail until everyone had 1
jennmaybe Posted September 5, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Very confusing answers here. Do we play on our cabin TV OR report to the muster station or both?

You do both. You play the video on the cabin TV or on your phone using the app. You go to the muster station so that they know you can find it, but there's no presentation there. 2

SCX22 Posted September 5, 2023 #14 Share Posted September 5, 2023 The muster video can be played on any personal device that has the Medallion App (cell phone or tablet) actively logged in with the passenger’s login credentials OR on the cabin TV. Make sure the device doesn’t go to sleep or turn off because the video portion won’t register as completed. On the cabin TV, you select which passenger will be watching. It’s fickle and sometimes will make each passenger “watch” it once; other times it will register for all passengers in the cabin despite having only played it once.
Thrak Posted September 5, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 5, 2023 At the Muster Station there will be a crew member standing next to a Medallion reader. You press your Medallion against the reader and that is all that is needed at the Muster station. 3
LeeW Posted September 5, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 5, 2023 If two people watch on app, it only credits the one logged in. Didn't seem to matter that DW never got credit for watching before we sailed. The critical part is checkin at the muster station.

(We will have the cards in lieu of the medallions).

As long as they register you going to your assigned muster location, which is the most important thing, especially when you're on a ship for the first time. If they are still willing to provide actual Cruise Cards they likely can be read by the Medallion reader at the muster station (and the casino, the bars, etc.) I really wouldn't like to go back to the cards though. What a pain in the butt and I've had them become demagnetized and fail at inopportune times

jennmaybe Posted September 7, 2023 #22 Share Posted September 7, 2023 Thanks. Arrangements have already been made for us to have the cards. I’m not worried at all about the cards. Over 20 cruises and never had a single issue with the cards. We have no desire to use the medallions.

It so convenient to walk up to your cabin and not have to fuss with getting a card out of your pocket.

Hearing cruise personnel whine about this doesn't make me go do the drill any faster, and it's not likely that I'm going to forget to do it. Sometimes I long for the days of the scheduled, mandatory drill - "be there or be square!" - where I could stand by the lifeboats or in an overstuffed indoor location.
