We have never been escorted from the dining room by Security 🤣🤣🤣 We did get a special dessert made for by the Pastry Chef after we questioned if the ship had run out of apples. This followed an hilarious incident early that morning in the Al Bacio when a whole batch of the apple turnovers was found to contain no apple - beautifully cooked but absolutely no filling. By coincidence that evening the Chef was visiting the tables and I cheekily raised the matter - he said he knew of the incident and they still couldn't understand how it had happened. He then said that he would make me a special dessert for the next night. The dessert turned out to be a giant turnover so stuffed with apple it was amazing it held together. Happy memories. 2

Rare hcat Posted September 16, 2023 #53 Share Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) The Apple Story is priceless. Glad the chef made amends. Used to enjoy all the cooking demos (so well attended) with free samples at the end. .Bet now the chefs hide because of what corporate says they must do to stretch and reduce quality of the product. Over consumption of alcohol was much less of an issue on "X" before they introduced drink packages. People want their money's worth and a different clientele switched over to X immediately. We have observed "Bar Stool hogs" at the aft bar on Reflection...very loud and rowdy crowd... It ruined that space but we just avoided the area. Could not even hear the nice guitar music back there. Worst we ever saw, however was a large group, mostly young people, some with families, many solo, who were treated to a short cruise by their employer. Many of them probably never went on a cruise before. Many of them were drunk morning, day and night, and were very rowdy wherever they hung out.. Other passengers stayed away, and security gave them a bit of slack...until there was a daytime brawl, broken beer bottles and glass landing in the main pool..which had to be cleared .It was unfortinate they ruined things for others..but happy it was a short cruise. It was hilarious - it was 8.0 am and you can imagine the scene. I bit into the first one - no apple. Guy at the counter apologized and gave me another - I asked him to cut it open - no apple. The supervisor joined us and he picked another from the other end of the tray - no apple. The guy from the Galley who had brought in the turnovers arrived back with more trays of cakes. He also chose a turnover - no apple. By now the Supervisor was on the phone to the Pastry Chef who at first couldn't get his head round the situation possible because the Supervisor could hardly stop laughing. The Guy from the Galley was told to take the offending tray and 2 other trays back to the galley. I gave up on the idea of a turnover and settled for some cookies. For the rest of the cruise the turnovers were great. Later in the day I was telling the tale to Julie the Guest Relations Director ( anyone who knows her will be aware that she has wicked sense of humour) and she was quickly on the phone to the Head Chef enquiring about the "new range of diet turnovers". Happy memories.

Xrayal Posted September 16, 2023 #62 Share Posted September 16, 2023 I will happily admit that I was having an excellent evening on Celebrity Constellation which ended at the Martini bar. Had it not been for my husband there's no way I'd have made it back to my cabin. The hangover the next day taught me not to repeat that and ruin a day of my cruise! Even drunk I'm quite reserved though, so wouldn't be forcing myself on others with conversation or getting in their space. In 2021, the gentleman we witnessed remove all his clothes at Martini bar on Silhouette was removed by security. We didn't see him at the bar again! BrendaJ Posted September 16, 2023 #67 Share Posted September 16, 2023 I think the bartenders should have a whole raft of non-alcoholic fake beverages ready to switch out on people who are getting a little too inebriated. My cousin used to serve beer at Oktoberfest in Munich (you know, the giant steins of beer?) He said if he or any other server saw anyone getting out of hand, they’d start substituting non-alcoholic beer. Anyone that drunk evidently doesn’t taste the difference. Seems like a really good plan so that everyone is happy and safe.

Not the majority of people, of course, but I've run across them on many cruises--especially the shorter ones. They're the people who are already on their 3rd drink by 10am (true story). So.....question related to this thread topic: as the cost of drink packages has jumped to much over the past year or so, do people think we'll see more alcohol consumption (and perhaps more booze-fueled bad behavior) on board going forward? What’s wrong with people wanting to drink their moneys worth? I most certainly do and probably fail, never added it up. Have only cruised 5 times and have never seen any booze fuelled bad behaviour at all (strangely my wife says she sees it daily 😁) but I have seen people being rude and obnoxious stone cold sober, at least drunks have an excuse.

While she takes her nap I "pop down" to Al Bacio for a Latte and Apple Turnover. We are then set up for the day which generally starts at the Elite Breakfast in Tuscan.
