mattresses on enchantment

I am getting ready for a 5 day cruise aboard Enchantment. I read that the mattresses are in poor shape with the exception of the "new rooms" when the ship was stretched. Does anyone know which rooms these are? Or, if you have stayed in 8454, any feedback?

Ug... The mattress and the pillows on the Radiance were the worst I've ever encountered when traveling and I stay in a hotel about 150 - 200 nights a year. But I recently heard Royal Caribbean is going to start upgrading the bedding starting with the Freedom. Definitely ask for the foam (egg crate type) topper.

OK...I found that the new cabns are the 62 -82 room numbers, which doesn't include us anyway. I believe it's 8548...had to check the deck layout on the wabsite to jog my memory.

Oh, you have a Grand Suite. We found the beds VERY VERY comfortable. Not just the main bed (we had the two twins pushed together to make a queen), but the sofa bed was EXTREMELY comfortable. I don't think that you'll have any complaints, but you can ask for the egg-crate topper for the mattress if you want.

Are the new cabins 62-82 on each deck or only on the 8th?

Thanks Merion Mom. I am excited about this cruise (#3 for me). We also requested a pack-n-play for our youngest (20mos) and my 4 year old will sleep on the sofa bed. I may skip the egg-crate afterall. Hey, nothing like a sore back as an excuse to get a massage.

judging by the images online (rccl website), I would guess they include the same numbered suites on every level. See stretching footage if you get the chance (royalcarribean.com)

Oh, you are going to find this VERY convenient for the "size and shape" of your family! The four year old will be positively swallowed up by the huge queen-size sofa bed! The balcony is wonderful, too.

 

Do your little ones normally wake you up early? I hope so, because the noise above you will awaken you, if the kids don't. :)

Dear merion mom;

I have heard that about the early morning noise. It looks like we're right under the pool deck. In your experience, does the noise continue all day?

We were just in 8108. Yes, there is chair dragging noise from the pool deck, but it's not constant and mostly stops in the evening. Nothing to worry about, IMHO.

I think is hard to give opinions on mattresses. Everyone has different preferences. We were just on the Enchantment with an inside and my dh and I both LOVED our mattress. Our two dd's were next door and both loved theirs too. My mother and father were across the hall in an outside and HATED their mattresses. We had 3 other rooms of family down the hall and the opinions were everywhere in between. I think it is just the luck of whether your preferences matching what you find in your room. The mattresses definitely vary from room to room.
