Cruise a holic Posted November 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2023 We enjoy the specialty restaurants. Also have made some purchases in the shops- Shore x another possibility.
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2023 Because this gets asked so often I've compiled a list of things to spend OBC on. The only thing I know of now that you CAN'T buy with OBC is a deposit on a Future Cruise. You need a credit card for that. Also, there may be some card game in the casino with a cash only buy-in. And if they do a fundraiser, like selling t-shirts to “save the reefs” and the like, expect to need cash for that. Otherwise, here you go: *Acupuncture *Airport transfers *Alcove Rental (some ships) *Apple products etc. and Ilounge classes *Art Auction Purchases *Babysitting *Barber Shop services *Behind the Scenes Tours *Beverages -- Alcoholic, carbonated soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas, bottled water — if not in your package, also beverages above your package limits *Bingo and Deal or No Deal *Bottles of wine *Casino *Chef’s Table *Corkage charged if you bring your own bottles of wine to the MDR *Duty free liquor and cigarettes *Extra cost entrees and other items in Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants *Extend Your Stay program *Fitness classes *Flowers *Gelato *Gift shop souvenirs, purses, watches, cosmetics, clothing, jewelry, etc. *Gratuities, and extra gratuities *Guests dining with you in Luminae (applies to Suite Passengers only) *Guest entertainers' CD's and DVD's *Hair and nail salon *Hollywood hot glass experiences (some ships) *Internet if not in your package, also Internet upcharges *Laundry/pressing/drycleaning *Liquor Tasting events *Luggage Valet *Martini Flights *Medical Center purchases *Mini bar *Portrait photo sessions *Pay-per-view movies *Persian Gardens passes *Personal Training Sessions *Photos & cameras *Room service fees *Ryde spinning classes *Shore Excursions *Shuttle to town (some ports) *Spa -- massages and treatments *Specialty restaurants *Teeth Whitening *Telephone calls using ship's system *Transfer to another passenger's account *Voyage in Review DVD *Wine and liquor tastings *Zumba They will always use non-refundable OBC first, then refundable OBC, And if you run out of that then it goes on your credit card

I wold use it for a specialty restaurant, a shore excursion, a good bottle of liquor etc. Basically on something you can’t do at home.

That rules out the specialty dining and liquor, as those are things you can get better and cheaper at home. I say spend it on whatever makes you happy. That's the whole point, isn't it?
Keys Kathy Posted November 18, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2023 They overcharge for the service. Get jewelry or a gift for someone.
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted November 18, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2023 I got a pedicure onboard once because I didn't have time to do it prior to the cruise. I wasn't impressed with the quality and it didn't last very long. Oh, and it cost twice what I pay for a much better one at home.
563toM Posted November 18, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2023 How about moving the OBC to your Casino account, playing for a few minutes and then cashing out ? Go home with money in your pocket so you can book your next cruise.
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 19, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 19, 2023 Works on some ships, not on others
pana37 Posted November 19, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted November 19, 2023 thank you for all your replies i think you right i will book this before we cruise and use the OBC elsewhere hopefully. was not aware i could cash out at the casino hopefully i can? this is our 1st cruise i've heard the le petit chef is ok worth doing only once, however looked at the menu does not really appeal tbh. might look at the gift shop. i have booked concierge class not really sure what extras this offers beside welcome lunch. the price was comparable with the standard cabin with sea view. 563toM Posted November 19, 2023 #11 Share Posted November 19, 2023 @pana37 We have moved the money to the Casino on RC but we are brand new to Celebrity so we haven't tried it yet. Since you are first time cruisers I highly suggest that you watch YT videos about the ship and Le Petit Chef. Plenty of videos online to be more prepared and I always check the latest videos as things do change. If the price looks good for for any excursions, Le Petit Chef etc go ahead and book them now because the only time that I have found true sales are around Black Friday. Anything that you book you can cancel until maybe 2 weeks before the cruise so you won't be out anything and the price is secure.
39august Posted November 19, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 19, 2023 Re: casino. Some use OBC on slots. We use on table games. For table games go to cashier and withdraw some OBC from you account and you will get promotional chips. These must be played, but on any win you will be paid with money chips. Cash those out at the cashier after playing all your promotional chips. We love getting money on THEIR money!

Rare bjahil47 Posted November 20, 2023 #17 Share Posted November 20, 2023 I always get a mani/pedi and it’s comparable to cost at home. They have always done an excellent job!

But the animation will match primary, but that’s not a big deal. As for sushi they have delicious dumplings and a couple of other things.

We ate at Le Petit Chef for the first time on our last cruise and were pleasantly surprised by the food. It was excellent. They also changed the menu midway through the cruise but I don't know if that's what happens on every cruise. While I've had massages, acupuncture treatments, manis and pedis on the ship, as others have said, they're really expensive. If we have leftover OBC I will first shop at the makeup and perfume store. The prices are like duty free I can always find something I want. I don't usually shop in the other stores - especially the jewellery stores - but have found a few handbags over the years. Not all OBC can be cashed out at the casino. Not sure exactly what code to look for but someone here will be able to give you definitive info.
