KyleClark Posted December 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2023 (edited) Because of wind and weather we are not stopping at OC. Instead we are docking in Miami from now until midnight. All passengers have to get off the ship and be processed by CBP. It's not a good weather day in Miami as it's rainy and overcast. Shops and the casino will be closed until after we leave and hit international waters. I would of preferred to just stay at sea. Homosassa Posted December 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2023 No, you wouldn't prefer to be at sea if you could see the weather maps that we are seeing on local forecasts showing wind speed and direction that colliding over the Bahamas. It would be a rough ride out here.

KyleClark Posted December 13, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted December 13, 2023 (edited) What a sh*t show. No one has reboarded yet and it 1:10pm. Lunch is being posted until every passenger is processed. Then we have to have a formal embarkation. JAGR Posted December 13, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2023 (edited) I would think the delay to be inevitable with a non-scheduled stop in Miami. They would not have extra CBP folks on hand, and the face scanning technology would already be assigned to officers working scheduled arrivals, if there are any today. Probably had difficulty getting extra staff to come to the port, and an unscheduled ship would not enjoy any priority. We had a similar situation when we were diverted from OC and Nassau to Miami back on my Oct. 25 sailing. It took HOURS for everyone to get off the ship and they wouldn't let anyone back on until the ship was zeroed out. Fortunately, the weather held and I was able to take a Lyft and go get lunch in Little Havana and they had started boarding people by the time I got back. For the people who actually got off at their scheduled times at ~8:30 in the morning, it was a terrible experience waiting in the terminal until after 1:00. 2

Homosassa Posted December 14, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2023 Information for the backstory of any decisions made by the Captain over the next few days: I wouldn't expect good weather over the next five days. The heavy winds from yesterday and continuing today are from the convergence and phasing of the three jet streams (artic, temperate and sub tropical) that were reaching speeds of two hundred mph because of the one hundred fifty degree difference between the ground temperatures in Siberia and southern Asia. Adding to the fun is a low pressure system that has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is being swept to the east by the jet stream. Sub tropical storm conditions are expected to move across Florida and out to the Bahamas.
mnpurple Posted December 14, 2023 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2023 We're in Fort Lauderdale right now and I can say I really wouldn't want to be on a ship out there! 🤢 Hope it's better than I am imagining.

Rare Ottawa_Cruiser Posted December 16, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2023 I was so sad to miss OC, but I do understand the decision. It’s unfortunate as I had my son with me on this trip and weather played a major part of a less than enjoyable cruise for him. He was so bored.
