Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted December 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2023 While in Ketchikan, we took the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's Tour (highly recommend) and their galley offered King Crab. It was very good, and reasonably priced.

Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted December 31, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2023 The photos above made me think of our Christmas Eve tradition. I live in the Seattle area and our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (which we host) is Dungeness crab. Back in the day we would go to Pike Place Market Christmas Eve morning and buy our crab from Jack's Fish Spot. The crab would have been cooked that morning in one of their boiling vats. After getting the crab we would pick up salad ingredients and stop by a bakery for bread and some treats. Later, as more grocery stores' seafood departments began to carry Dungeness Crab (and King Crab), we skipped going to the Market, and bought our crab where we grocery shop. This Christmas, Dungeness Crab was $8.99/lb. (although I saw prices ranging $12.99 to $19.99/ lb.). Was the crab previous frozen? Probably, but it was still good. : ) Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year.
