cluso Posted January 3 #1 Share Posted January 3 We have already reserved specialty dining nights for our upcoming cruise. Since these were prepaid, how does the 15% discount work? Do they bring a new bill and give you OBC? Thank you!
jelayne Posted January 3 #2 Share Posted January 3 While some have reported beening able to get the discount refunded we have always been told that the discount only applies when booking are done on board. Have tried on 3 different ships with no luck. We have never had a problem getting the discount we we made the reservation once on board, so now we just book board.

We had a problem with this on our last cruise and the Retreat Manager and Hosts just would not get it fixed. They said that if you Book it online and pay for it it is discounted and they can't double dip. After complaining to the Hotel Director they fixed it by cancelling the original reservation and payment and rebooked it with the discount - in my case as a Zenith it was a 25% discount and the amount really was insignificant but became a Principle issue We initially tried to fix it via the Zenith Desk and Shoreside Concierge but they said they didn't' have the ability to correct it and had to be fixed on the ship.
wrk2cruise Posted January 3 #4 Share Posted January 3 (edited) And the labor expended not fixing the issue goes way beyond the value of the discount! They could also probably save 10% of their call center expenses by simply putting drink package, wifi package and OBC prominently on the Manage My Reservation page or somewhere front and center on the app like where they display your captains club point total Edited January 3 by wrk2cruise
jelayne Posted January 3 #5 Share Posted January 3 Like many other things it would not be an issue if the website specified “15% or 25% discount” on specialty restaurants booked onboard. The devil is in the details or lack of details.

Discount should be automatically applied in Cruise Planner or given a choice if multiple discounts available.
Rare abbydancer2003 Posted January 3 #7 Share Posted January 3 FWIW, on a cruise last year, we went to Tuscan on the first night with a discount. They did tell me that because we had a discounted rate, we didn't get our Elite Plus discount.
Rare hcat Posted January 3 #8 Share Posted January 3 we had an issue with this on Inf out of Ca. we rebooked to get the disc but then it triggered a local tax..we were still in port ...took several days to resolve.. we book specialty dining ahead with the discount to get the slots we prefer On board, we add another restaurant and a few lunches and use the disc without issues! Oh well, this is our last Celebrity cruise in the foreseeable future (never say never). Three more cruises lined up for this year. One is Oceania's Vancouver to Alaska and down the West Coast to LA in September. BTW, Oceania is having a sale and yesterday I got our cruise fare reduced by $1200. Next year, we are taking Jim's lead and want to book Ponant on the Great Lakes. They have 10-day cruises on the Great Lakes now. 😁

If X had a real IT department that had clue about IT this would happen, but since they are clueless there is no hope here. Maybe it’s done this way on purpose to squeeze just a little more revenue from elites/zeniths….

Not sure if this is doable, but a poster mentioned they called Captains Club to make their reservations and received the discount on Specialty dining and excursions. I'm about to test it on our upcoming cruise.

The prices pre cruise are discounted from the onboard price and it seems that the reps can’t override the system to replace a pre cruise 8% discount with a higher CC discount and discounts can’t be combined.

I had the same. Like Joan I even tried Zenith Desk. They could put in a request only but couldn't over ride the system.
