PrincessDreams4P&B Posted March 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Okay I just got off the phone with the 17th Street AmeriSuites in Ft. Lauderdale and I was told that parking is free, I asked, even while we are on our cruise (on the CB 10/21/06), and she said yes. I said Are you sure and she said yes that we just need to fill out a parking form and we are all set. Maybe I am cynical, but I think that this cannot be right. Can some veteran CC members help me out here.. Thanks. P.S I also heard that the hotel is going to be renovated and bought by HYATT?? True? Rare Coral Posted March 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Yes - it is true about parking. The hotel won't be a Hyatt but a Hyatt owned chain. Sort of like Holiday Inn Express hotels are owned By Holiday Inn but are not equivalant to Holiday Inns.
Rare Coral Posted March 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2006 I juste clicked on Hyatt.com and they own Hyatts, Hyatt Vacation club, Hawthorn Suites, Amerisuites and Summerfield Suites. I have stayed at the Amerisuites before and it is a basic hotel. It doesn't compare to the Embassy Suites, Renaissance and what used to be the Marriott on 17th Street. It is definitely a deal that you can leave your car there. I wasn't impressed with the hotel staff and probably won't stay there again - hopefully new ownership will help this. coiran Posted March 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2006 We have stayed at the Amerisuites before - It is an OK hotel for one night - clean, breakfast included, good shuttle service, nearby restaurants and shopping. - you can get it on Priceline for about $50 or through valuetripe.com for $79 - $99 depending on season. We will stay there again. Ron
BILLP1 Posted March 21, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Always stay there and park the car there. We use their van to get to the ship but usually cab it back to the hotel. Only a ten minute ride from ship to the hotel.
TxShipShape Posted March 21, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2006 La Quinta does the same thing. Have used them in Galvestion, Now Orleans & Ft. Lauderdale Remember you are in an open parking lot. You pays your money and takes your chances. Todate I've have had no problems.
