PurpleMoonlight Posted January 12 #1 Share Posted January 12 (edited) I am aware of the standard terms and conditions. Although we missed Bruges on our new year cruise on Ventura (5 nights), we all had a lovely time and are keen to do it again in 2025. I called P&O and asked if they would make a concession and move my Oct 2024 cruise deposit to my cabin on the Dec 2025 cruise. The individual cabin cost is less than my Oct 2024 cruise but the deposit paid for the Oct 2024 cruise is less than the total cabin cost on the Dec 2025 cruise (so still a balance to pay). I emphasised I would be looking to book 7 cabins on the Dec 2025 cruise in total, that the children traveling were really disappointed at missing out on the chocolate, and I really needed this deposit to be transferred to make the numbers work. The phone representative was very helpful and sent an email up the chain of command while I was on the phone. We looked at the cabin pricing that would be involved while we waited, a total cost of some £20,000. After a few minutes the reply came back siting standard terms and conditions, so no. Anyone got any thoughts oh how to get them to change their mind please? Edited January 12 by PurpleMoonlight
showingdiva Posted January 12 #2 Share Posted January 12 Isn't it still the case that if wishing to transfer a deposit, the new cruise has to be within a 12 month period of the original booking?

Short of appealing to someone higher up the food chain (such as Paul Ludlow) I doubt that anyone will change that outcome.
Rare Thedonkeycentrehalf Posted January 12 #4 Share Posted January 12 We did manage to get transferred after Mrs DCH went down the Paul Ludlow route. After an exchange of emails, we were eventually allowed to switch but told this was a one off and that we had to switch to a cruise of equivalent or greater cost - not allowed to go cheaper. Good luck trying.

I hope that you find a way to persuade them to change their minds I have experience of P&O's intransigence when my niece and B-I-L died in November. I was fortunate that our TA was excellent and managed to get P&O to agree to let us move the cruise to November this year. I was in the TA shop for an hour while she argued with them. Winifred 22 Posted January 12 #7 Share Posted January 12 I think they very much stick to the rules. There can be only I move, must be select fare, within 12 months and must be higher in value. The deposit value isn’t a factor it’s the overall cruise value.

As others have said you can only transfer to someone same value or higher on select fare and within 12 months of the original booking, so surely they should stick by those rules for everyone rather than make an exception, which could cause big problems for them all round. Can you change your original cruise to something else, then still book the other one? For one cruise, (not P&O) recently we decided to change a booking for a cruise which left sooner than the original one and the new cruise booked had been reduced quite a bit, even on full fare, as only a month or two until sailing date. So we still paid a bit more than our original booking, but got much better value on a pppn basis. Just an idea which may be if use to you, perhaps worth looking at availability now or nearer to your October cruise.
