Rare luv2kroooz Posted January 15 #2 Share Posted January 15 We liked the included Broadway shows a lot better. Kinda reminds us of Carnival...Hasbro the game show, Family Feud, etc. Carnival was free to play. My understanding is that you pay to play on NCL. Oh geez didn't realize wonky internet usage was also required. Does it use up your limited minutes, too? Or do you just have to connect to the ships network? UKstages Posted January 15 #5 Share Posted January 15 ship's network. no minutes required. i'm familiar with the tech from having used something similar in business presentations/trainings, but i am unfamiliar with this specific system. i am basing all my knowledge here on the press release and on a couple of internet reviews i've read.
Rare debenson0723 Posted January 15 #6 Share Posted January 15 Haven't been on a ship with Wheel of Fortune but both Price is Right on the Prima and Press Your Luck on the Viva were free to play for the audience. And no cell phone or internet usage necessary.

mugtech Posted January 17 #10 Share Posted January 17 Went to one let's make a deal on Sky, it was not entertaining, had to pay to play. My wife said the tv show is much better.
Rare JGmf Posted January 17 #11 Share Posted January 17 Monetizing what should be free entertainment, if you call game show watching "entertainment"... Hard pass.

Exactly. It reminds me of Carnival's habit of getting the passengers to entertain each other so the cruise line doesn't have to spend money on professional entertainers. Hope it's not a trend because we have leaned into NCL for their entertainment and FAS in the past.

Rare mking8288 Posted January 18 #16 Share Posted January 18 (edited) Me, thinking, NCL corporate better come up with a new twist to explain what they meant. I mean, recognize that things happen for better and for the worst, but somehow, I do not buy this BS of dropping near/B'dway style major production shows to fees-to-play game/alike shows - with quotes like " the world's best creative talents both inside and outside the theatrical realm and exploring new innovative and exciting entertainment for our guests. " We all can and should agree to disagree on the current entertainment "changes". I consider them cutback, negative and reductions in the overall onboard experience, especially when you are on a longer cruise / itinerary with port days. Sadly, it is what it is and don't need anyone to tell us what not to do and go elsewhere, planning to doing exactly that ahead since we have the flexibility and plenty of options. If you are on a 3, 4 or 5 days cruise, or even 7 days cruise with multiple ports of calls (subject to the now infamous "optimized" last minute changes that's clearly not weather-related) then the near absence of production shows & non-gaming entertainment, perhaps not a deal breaker ... coupled with free in-cabin PPV movies. To which her/his own. Edited January 18 by mking8288
Susannekells Posted June 22 #17 Share Posted June 22 (edited) I din't go but you do need NCL internet to play. If you bought a internet package, I guess you don't pay extra (I didn't have Internet)) but I believe you have to buy cards. The entertainment on my last cruise. Burn the floor was good, but it's on 2 nights, so i tried to get in smaller venue shows, the 7pm shows was full, people was lining up for the 9.30.. . I'm not up to 2 and a half hours in line. 2 nights of let's make a deal, so 2 more early nights. If I have to sit in my cabin most nights, I'm better off at home. I made the mistake of paying into one of those cruise now things, so I guess I'll have to do one more Norwegian cruise but if all i have is TV game shows, it's going to be the last. The menus is similar on all their cruises but the food is better tasting on some. After a few cruises it can get a bit boring. Susannekells Posted June 22 #19 Share Posted June 22 (edited) Well it's nice they give one access to the sites but I still dislike those TV game shows, and I have heard one have to purchase the cards.. like for bingo, which I don't play either. I did enjoy having dinner and a show and then maybe wandering about a bit, but with no show and full small venues, evenings get very dull... Anyway there is other cruise lines Edited June 22 by Susannekells Fix spelling

It's just gaming gaming There are shows in the theater every night. Yes, sometimes, but not often, they will put a popular game show in the theater. It does not cost anything to sit and watch. Like BINGO (which has been around since the start of time), if you want to play, you need to pay. We just go and watch. The Casino has never been in the Theater. And BINGO is not in the theater at night. There is entertainment every night in the Theater, itinerary permitting.
