jshli Posted February 4 #1 Share Posted February 4 My husband and I will be in Italy (Rome, Venice, etc.) in April and May and am wondering if a medium orange windbreaker would be ok or will I stick out like a sore thumb? It is new and very attractive, but I don’t want to scream “tourist”. I appreciate any opinions.
CruiserBruce Posted February 4 #2 Share Posted February 4 The locals know who the tourists are. You can't hide it.
jshli Posted February 4 Author #3 Share Posted February 4 I guess I knew that, my husband’s camera case is a dead giveaway. I guess I want to feel comfortable that I would not get “stares” everywhere I go.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted February 4 #4 Share Posted February 4 You will be fine in Rome. Gone are the days when the locals all wore darker clothing (although you might still find the occasional Italian Nonna in a small town in the south of Italy wearing black). Italians have embraced jeans, athleisure wear, and even trendy white sneakers. What they don't tend to do is wear anything too revealing in the city (shorts, midriff-baring shirts or tank tops); they consider those to be beach or resort attire.
