232271 Posted March 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2006 We booked our first Carnival Thanksgiving cruise last night on the Conquest. We really wanted a mid-cabin location (8A) The only room left was 6285, and my hubby thought is was too close to the "old glory" balcony (it is just outside of it) SO he opted to do a Gaureentee instead...(he is assumming this room would be quite noisey) If you have ever done Gaureenteed before has it worked out OR should we pick this one and only 8A left. (this boat is getting full at this for this date) Is there really a bad location on the ship? Should I have him call back and pick this one cabin? I must say that it seems that we cant do any worse than what is left though, so that is why hubby wanted to take a gamble and see what we will get. thanks a bunch for any and all opinions!!! Shadieeie Posted March 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2006 Well that balconey stateroom doesn't look that bad to me, it isn't close to elevators or stairs. With it being a holiday cruise, I think I would snatch it up, because you may end up worse off. I just booked an Alaska Cruise for Aug 2007, when I talked to my PVP on Friday there were 8 aft rooms, she had an emergency and we didn't speak back that day when it was scheduled, she ended up going into work on Saturday (thank god she did) and I was able to get the last availabe aft room. Lots of if's to consider from what I can tell, what did the PVP tell you about the room? Also don't take to long on your decision or it will be gone
cardinalfan Posted March 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2006 I had never done a guarantee before until my last cruise. I had a 4a guarantee and ended up on the Lido deck on a balcony. Well worth it.
serene56 Posted March 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2006 For a holiday sailing-- I would take the 6285. Chances of being upgraded are VERY low Especially since you stated you want a midship cabin-- you could get stuck with the cabins very close to the front or way in the back. This cabin is in a good location and I dont think it will not be noisy at all.
serene56 Posted March 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2006 PS-- are you needing a cabin for 4 people?? Coz I surely see lots of available cabins for your week. 6285-6239 6235 6229 6223 6244 6240 6236 6232 if the agent said that cabin is the only one available- I would be getting another agent.
