King10Sooted Posted March 2 #1 Share Posted March 2 Done a bit of research, I tend to spend a ridiculous amount of time researching everything for vacations. Just looking for some input on Liberty. Was on Explorer 2 years ago and loved the ship. Totally understand Liberty is a bit older. Just want to make sure there aren't any glaring problems before booking a 9 night cruise. Any input from anyone that has been on the ship recently would be great! Thanks!
PGHProducer Posted March 2 #2 Share Posted March 2 Liberty is a great ship. We did a 9 day cruise last summer and have one booked for this summer as well—this time with our kids. it doesn’t have some of the new bells and whistles if that matters to you (No Playmakers and no Freestyle machines - though I don’t drink soda so I don’t care)… but she’s still in great shape and we had an amazing time! Rare SteelCityCruiser10 Posted March 2 #4 Share Posted March 2 (edited) Personally I enjoy that class ship. I didnt come across anything that I would characterize as a glaring problem. She isn’t new but is newer than Explorer. I would say if you liked Explorer you should like Liberty too. I did a live last fall if you want to check it out… Edited March 2 by SteelCityCruiser10
PhillyFan33579 Posted March 2 #5 Share Posted March 2 I cruised on Liberty a few months ago in December. While I enjoyed the cruise, I don’t plan on cruising on her again until if/when she gets amped. Freedom and Independence are much nicer Freedom class ships. Having said that, if your main reason for sailing Liberty is for the ports I wouldn’t hesitate to book a cruise on her.
Rare sadiwest Posted March 2 #6 Share Posted March 2 Speaking of Liberty, we have a b2b in June. Do they do show reservations in advance? Haven't seen it on line yet but its still 100+ days out.

mets123 Posted March 2 #8 Share Posted March 2 The only issue I have with the Liberty and Voyager class for that matter is the casino layout. There are no dedicated smoking and non smoking areas. It's more like one aisle smoking and the next non smoking. So smoke permeating the whole casino.. and casino staff has no problem with letting people come in to smoke with out actually gambling. It just adds to the problem. That's my two cents and I'm sticking to it.

Once in Oct 2018 and a second time in Dec 2021. The Liberty 2018 sailing was the cruise that addicted me to Royal Caribbean Cruise line and to cruising in general. I have another Liberty coming up in September, 9 night Canada/NE cruise. While being an older ship she is still a great ship and I'm already counting down the days until we sail. She is bigger than Explorer but just a little. You only really notice it Promenade. It has one my favorite ice shows.
