JazzyV Posted March 11 #52 Share Posted March 11 (edited) Good morning. Thanks for the FR/Daily @kazu and @richwmn and maps @rafinmd. The city I live right outside of has 311 for non-emergency calls; my little borough of 3000 people doesn't. Myths should be debunked. And Covid is still with us, although hopefully less deadly to most of us. One good thing that came from it was my finding the Daily, which kept me company as I was all alone at home. Good quote. I might like the lamb stew. Pass on the drink and wine. My Hawaii cruise left from LA; I didn't see any of the city. The sun is out and it's going up to 50F. I will mostly be inside. I slept about 5 hours (some leg pain), but on waking up I started coughing so hard my ribs hurt. I had a cough drop in the nightstand, then took a Mucinex DM, and it has settled down. I'll do more organizing in the DR. The old decorative radiator can't be repaired as the metal is considered too thin. I said I'd accept a plainer one painted to match the others in the house. Then they still need to clean the walls. So the majority of the contents of the rooms are in boxes everywhere still. @dfish Happy Birthday to Sue! Thanks for the recipes. @StLouisCruisers An exciting day for Morgan. Plus she's lucky to have family around to help her out. @kazu I appreciate national Napping Day; I'll try to later. Sorry to hear of your foot pain. I hope you're feeling better and stay safe from bad weather. @Denise T Sorry to hear about Fiona and good thoughts for Chase on Thursday. I hope PT will have a good report. @grapau27 Thanks for the explanations. @smitty34877 I'm glad the aide is coming, to give you time for errands. What happened with the 1-day weekend aide? @aliaschief Thanks for sharing the photos. @0106 I guess spring break folks are onboard. I heard some of the YouTube cruise people talking about them trying to curb chair hogs. @cat shepard Good news on your Sister's improvement, but OMG on no supper last night. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 11 #53 Share Posted March 11 Good morning from a sunny and so far not windy Quartzsite. It was 49F when I got up and is now now 54F and heading to a high of 76F. This afternoon the wind will be about 12mph which should help the clothes dry. Yes, today is laundry day and hopefully, I can get some more of the weeds pulled up. It looks like the last round of weed killer is beginning to work, but the weeds still need to be tackled. Like most of you, I had to look up 311 day, and found the information Graham @grapau27 shared, plus information on the 311 Band. It seems more and more disinformation is being shared and believed instead of debunked. The only part of Covid-19 I'll honor is that we all still need to be careful and remember it is still out there. The Meister Eckhart quote is a good one. We'll skip the meal since DH is not a fan of lamb. I think one of the dishes we had in Morocco on a couple of tours was lamb stew, and it was very good. We'll also pass on the meal and the drink. We have sailed from and to San Pedro several times, and on a couple of turnaround days on Ruby Princess in 2016 we bailed the car out of the parking lot and drove into LA. We really didn't have too much time to look around because we left the ship after rush hour and tried to get out of LA before rush hour. In 2020 when Covid was declared a pandemic, it certainly changed the world and how we do things now. I remember watching Charles Van Doren on "Twenty-One" and his "remarkable" winning streak. It was a shock to learn that the show had been rigged. @kazu Jacqui, I hope the pain in your legs subsides soon. Great memes today, especially the one about child proof bottles. @Denise T Denise, I hope you can get Fiona into see the vet today, and that he can help her feel better. @grapau27 Thank you for the explanations of two of the days. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope the filming does not cause too much chaos on your street. @aliaschief Thanks for the pictures from your tour. @0106 Tina, I'm glad they are reminding people to not hog the loungers. Sadly, that has been the rule as long as we've been sailing HAL, but it's not enforced. @cat shepard Ann, I hope your sister can be moved to Encompass asap. We were lucky that when DH was ready to go to rehab the hospital kept him an extra day until Encompass had a bed available. I can't believe your sister and her roommate did not get dinner, and all a nurse could find was cheese, crackers and Ensure. Thank goodness for that nurse so they at least got something. @ger_77 Gerry, I hope your DH's CT scan goes well and that it gives the doctors some needed answers. I'm glad your DS, his fiancé, her family and their friends were all safe, but what a horrible loss of life from the Tsunami. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I'm glad that your DGD is moving today, and that she is getting help from her father. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 11 #54 Share Posted March 11 As I mentioned, we have sailed into and out of San Pedro many times. Even though we have driven around San Pedro a couple of times, I don't seem to have any pictures except from various ships. These pictures were taken as we sailed on Golden Princess in 2012. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 11 #55 Share Posted March 11 As I mentioned, we had two turnaround days in San Pedro in 2016 went we did a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise, a 15 day Hawaii cruise and a 10 Sea of Cortez cruise on Ruby Princess. Most of my pictures were taken from the car. We wanted to see as much as possible and still be able to head back to San Pedro before rush hour. Downtown LA and the Parker Center. The iconic Capitol Records building. Sorry about the reflection in the glass in the picture. Griffith Park We saw the observatory but I can't find any pictures of it. Rare Denise T Posted March 11 #57 Share Posted March 11 Thank you for the well wishes. I have an update on Fiona. Thankfully, the worse that I thought it would be is not the case. A little history on Fiona. She came to us as an abandoned tiny little kitten over 10 years ago and blossomed into a large adult (at her heaviest she was 30 pounds). When she last had blood work last year, her blood sugar was high for a cat but not high enough to start insulin and we managed it and her weight with diet. Today, she is down to 22 pounds. Her blood sugar is much lower but a little high and the vet decided not to start insulin. We are switching to a diet to manage diabetes. All her other blood work looks good. Poor little girl does have a urinary tract infection. When they are elderly, you start fearing the worse. She is home now if not a little bit annoyed. 21
smitty34877 Posted March 11 #58 Share Posted March 11 @cat shepard, I am glad to hear that your great nephew is staying with you. Our young man will turn 16 in September and has his eyes on my ancient Subaru. He has asked my DSIL to be his driving instructor. He is a pleasure to be with and has a big heart just like his mom. @JazzyV, We did have extra help over the weekend but will probably forgo the extra expense. Thanks for asking.
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted March 11 #59 Share Posted March 11 Good Afternoon, thanks for today’s daily report. This morning I got up a pre time change so have been behind all day. I may set the alarm for tomorrow since it’s an in office day. Typically I’m a bit off the entire week after the time changes. Today’s meal suggestion sounds good. @dfish happy birthday to Sue! Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 11 #60 Share Posted March 11 @Cruzin Terri Terri, I hope the surgery for your friend goes well, and that she will gain back some of the lost weight as she recovers. @Denise T I'm glad that Fiona's blood work is better and that she will not need insulin. I hope the UTI will be a thing of the past soon. @smitty34877 Terry, I know that added expenses when some of is as ill as Tana can be a burden, but please get help, even if temporary, on the weekends when things get too rough. Tana also needs her caregivers and family to be rested and healthy. Lenda 15

quilty964 Posted March 11 #67 Share Posted March 11 Good afternoon from a sunny, pleasant day in Wisconsin. We have 211 to call here if help is needed. I'll pass on the meal, haven't been to LA, and the start of the pandemic is something I won't ever forget. That was a very difficult time in my life...my father had started home hospice care, and I believe one of the people who came to their apartment had covid and spread it to my parents, my sister and I. She was "coughing up a lung" the whole time she was doing her intake work. My parents died 2 days apart from covid. Again, something I will never forget. I know several others who also died because of it. It's still out there for sure, but hopefully not as deadly now. @dfishHappy Birthday to your sister! @StLouisCruisersGood to hear your DGD has a new place to live, my best wishes to her. @smitty34877thinking good thoughts for your family! @kazuI saw some pictures yesterday of snow in your neck of the woods, oh my is all I can say! @ger_77thinking good thoughts for your DH today... aliaschief Posted March 11 #68 Share Posted March 11 Good morning here. Just waking up and soon will be headed for coffee. We will arrive in Madang later this morning and this afternoon they will bus us to a local resort for a Azamazing Day cultural event. It’s going to be hot and muggy and we’ll probably experience some rain. We are on the tail end of rainy season. More and more people are electing to stay onboard after Dubai. Azamara has been very gracious and accommodating. Yesterday, they announced you could leave luggage aboard disembark and rejoin in Venice if you want to go off on your own versus go around Africa. Time for coffee and an energizer juice concoction or will I have a banana smoothie? So many choices. Thank you all for your post. Have a great week. dfish Posted March 11 #70 Share Posted March 11 Please forgive me for not listing everyone who wished Sue a happy birthday. I know I would leave someone out and I don't want to do that. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and safe travels. @ger_77 I hope all went well with Maurice's tests today. @JazzyV I'm glad you are getting some relief from your pain. I sure hope it is sustained over the long haul. You may need repeat injections now and then, but if that let's you sleep and function, so be it. @Denise T I'm glad Fiona is doing better than you feared. @kazu I'm sorry about the pain causing sleep disruptions. Too many of us know that battle. I was up at 2 last night rubbing Aspercreme on my legs. Like many of you have mentioned, when Covid was declared a pandemic and we went into lockdown, finding the Daily was a lifeline to me as I lived alone. You all helped me get through that time period without feeling too isolated. 22

Hogladyrider Posted March 11 #72 Share Posted March 11 Hoping that newcomers are welcome here. I have been reading and following for some time now but have never posted. I so enjoy reading every morning and if newcomers are welcome I would like to join. @DeniseT I remember your excitement over your first HAL cruise. Hope Fiona is on the mend soon. Curious what the vet prescribed for the UTI. I am 71 and had my very first UTI ever in my life and didn't even know I had one! For humans as we age it is pretty common. As with all infections being a TKR patient I have to be super careful with any infection. @Quartzsite Cruiser I got a chuckle out of your comment regarding traffic in Yuma on a Sunday. We are full-time RVers who have wintered in the Foothills for 5 winters and the traffic this time of year is YUCK! Reminds me of when I lived in Florida. Thankfully we don't have to be out on the roads much because it is like you take your life in your hands! Hard to believe it has been so long since the Pandemic was started. It seems like yesterday to us. Definitely trying times for sure.

We were all new once! Welcome aboard!
