boom op Posted April 29 #1 Share Posted April 29 Is it worth booking an excursion in Prince Rupert? If so any recommendations. Is the town close enough to get off ship and walk around? We have been to Victoria previously.
Bemidji Ty Posted April 29 #2 Share Posted April 29 (edited) You can walk around the town from the dock easily. That's what we did last August. Not much there. Edited April 29 by Bemidji Ty Govt Regulations
RSF Cruiser Posted April 29 #3 Share Posted April 29 Not far from the port is the Rushbrook trail that follows the harbor with pretty views. Once you get to the trailhead, it’s about 1.8 miles round trip and fairly flat.
RSF Cruiser Posted April 30 #4 Share Posted April 30 I just checked and round trip mileage from the ship for the Rushbrook trail is 4.5 miles. The 1.8 miles must have been one way (I just saw my recorded trail route with the info). I don’t want to mislead anyone!
Rare Cruise Raider Posted May 1 #5 Share Posted May 1 The Sunken Gardens and the museum are both within easy walking distance from the port and both are small but definitely worth a visit. There is a nominal fee at the museum and no charge for the gardens. In the opposite direction (from Cow Bay), there is a trail along the waterfront that will provide excellent scenery along your hike. If you stay onboard the ship while in port, you can go to the starboard side to see the crabbing operations if a ship is in town. So fascinating! Love this port .. such lovely people! There is a Safeway and Walmart not far from the museum if you want to pick up some treats for the crew.
