Are you really in Norway? 😉😂😂 Sounds like we’ve the same excursion booked in Stavanger as you…looking forward to seeing your pics and reading your thoughts! 🥂 Cathy Yes indeed, it looks like the Georgian Bay area north of Toronto for sure.

Rare PhillyTravelBug Posted May 9 #78 Share Posted May 9 Thoroughly enjoying your trip report. It's so hard and hard not to compare Norway and Alaska, but I think Norway is my favorite place on Earth. We sailed Prima last year and Geiranger was my favorite stop. We lucked out with beautiful weather there and in Alesund. Wishing you a wonderful sailing! pictures or words do not do Norway any justice.

If they are similar to the Antarctic water protections, then Celebrity has the Infinity that will be compliant with the world water quality convention. Infinity burns kerosene (light diesel)and has Co Regeneration gas turbines, upgraded from the jet turbines, that were installed when we sailed sailed to the Antarctic in 2010, Much cleaner. From what I have read the heritage fjord sailing will have to be emission-free in 2026, and I believe that light diesel and LNG still have emissions. We planned to sail this summer because I really want to get to Geiranger.

Rare kk20 Posted May 10 Author #81 Share Posted May 10 (edited) Another day, another fjord boat tour! Today we were in Stavanger and we booked a fjord boat tour directly with rodne.no. The pick up point was just a short walk down the pier from where we docked. I was a little concerned that I had booked back to back fjord tours but today’s fjord was so different than yesterday’s! Yesterday we had snow packed peaks with tonnes of waterfalls and today’s fjord was filled with sheer rock cliffs. Today’s boat had three levels of observation vs yesterday’s two but we enjoyed having a guide onboard yesterday who gave more real life in Norway blurbs and answered questions on the soot vs today’s prerecorded announcements. But you really can’t go wrong with either excursion! Both were breathtakingly beautiful in their own ways! Here are some pics and videos from today. I didn’t take any pics of the view looking up to pulpit rock from my iphone, but will see if I can get a couple of pics from my good camera to load once we’re home sheer granite rock face more rock face a corner the boat went into IMG_2448.mov Video of the nook and cranny 😉 IMG_2451.mov Coming up to a waterfall Edited May 10 by kk20

Rare kk20 Posted May 10 Author #83 Share Posted May 10 Some pics from around the pier area in Stavanger directly across from where we docked couldn’t resist this little viking for our bar! The hubs also picked up a viking drinking horn with stand (no pics as it’s wrapped up for it’s transatlantic voyage home)
Rare kk20 Posted May 10 Author #84 Share Posted May 10 We had another dinner in Murano tonight and it was excellent as always. Barwick Cruiser Posted May 11 #85 Share Posted May 11 Oh my goodness, too funny about your dinner mates in Murano…gotta wonder what makes these people think their behaviour is appropriate anywhere much less in a more fine dining establishment 🤦🏼♀️🤷♀️. Hopefully the food and service made up for this. This is the tour we’ve booked in Stavanger…how far from the ship is the tour boat? Easy to find? I loved your scenery shots in the first fjord but I’m sure we’ll enjoy today’s journey as well…glad to see at least one waterfall there! Cathy Our food and service definitely outshone our fellow passengers! We were supposed to have lunch in the Tuscan Grill tomorrow but changed it to Murano after our waiter told us they were also serving lunch that day. On the Rodne website they have their location listed as 10-15 minute walk from where the ship docks, but it was less than 5 minutes for us. The picture below was taken as we were docking on the tour boat and if you look back at my little viking troll tchotchke picture that was taken on our balcony - look for the green ship in the background - the rodne boats dock directly across from where that ship is

This was the one that the boat stopped at so we could all get great pictures. They also stopped under the where two rock faces butted up to each other, under pulpit rock, and where two mountain goats were. I’m sure you’ll love all the sites on this tour! We even saw a pod of dolphins on the way back, but I didn’t get any good pictures as we were sitting inside the boat when we spotted them
Rare kk20 Posted May 11 Author #88 Share Posted May 11 (edited) This morning we are cruising into Oslo. Our arrival time is expected to be 11am and our departure time is 9pm. I was up briefly around 5:15am and stepped out onto our balcony to see this! We’ve mentioned several times how calm the North Sea has been for our cruise. We have only felt the boat rocking in the waves a wee bit travelling from Alesund down to Stavanger. IMG_2513.mov Edited May 11 by kk20

Erekosse Posted May 11 #92 Share Posted May 11 Thanks for bringing us along on your trip! We are on the Silhouette next month and doing a fjords cruise on HAL summer of 2025. So, it's great to get a glimpse into information for both trips.
Rare kk20 Posted May 11 Author #93 Share Posted May 11 We enjoyed the views during our sail in to Oslo this morning and watched the bridge team maneuver us up to the pier. The nav channel was showing the air temperature as being 19°C when we left the ship to wonder around town for a bit. No need for a jacket today and we were both in our short sleeve shirts! we enjoyed our short 4km stroll along the harbour front and into a bit of the city before heading back to the ship to enjoy some more of today’s sunshine we were in a bit of a congo line of ships heading towards Oslo (I wasn’t able to get any good pics of the ship in front of is)
Rare kk20 Posted May 11 Author #94 Share Posted May 11 a couple of the condos that are part of the ‘thieves island’ complex that was built above the waterway this tree is completely artificial! there are various statues and artwork dotting the city streets you can rent these floating saunas along the harbour’s edge we’re assuming these are all locals enjoying a dip in the cold water

Rare kk20 Posted May 11 Author #97 Share Posted May 11 So I think I’ve already posted about Yopi from the martini bar making the best cosmos! Well, he also makes his own signature Yopitini! 🍸 The best way I can describe it is it’s the martini version of a french caribbean! Deliciousness in a glass 🤤 The martini master, Sir Yopi

Rare kk20 Posted May 12 Author #99 Share Posted May 12 IMG_2601.mov Normally we’re not Celebrity show goers, but I heard Jayne Curry practicing/doing a sound check yesterday afternoon and decided that we needed to go see her show! She did not disappoint! While not all of her songs were what we normally listen to, we couldn’t help but be in awe of her voice and quirky showmanship. Here is a snippet of her performance IMG_2601.mov
Rare kk20 Posted May 12 Author #100 Share Posted May 12 We attended the captain’s talk this morning in the theatre. ‘Oceans ahead. Secrets of Ship Navigation’ while it had some interesting parts, I could have done with less time on history and more time on the Silhouette’s information…. Today’s lunch was part of the dining trio package that I had purchased prior to boarding. We at in Murano again as the service and food has been phenomenal for our previous two dinners there this week. Lunch did not disappoint! crab salad scallops poached lobster lamb chops soufflé
