kamelia Posted May 17 #377 Share Posted May 17 Both propellers are currently operating and tests will continue for the next couple of hours before we resume course into Prince William Sound with an anticipated arrival at Harvard Glacier around 4:30p. DH noticed a significant decrease in the cavitation when he went up to Horizon Court for coffee early this morning, which we take as another positive indication that things are on the improve. 5

cruisinsince75 Posted May 17 #379 Share Posted May 17 Cruisemapper is showing the ships speed at 21.1 knots. Don't know how accurate the info is, but it appears to be a good sign.

Rare cr8tiv1 Posted May 17 #382 Share Posted May 17 I find it absolutely amazing that such a serious problem could be fixed without going into dry/wet dock. Only one voyage was affected. I do feel for those on the last cruise. Kudos to Princess and their "fixers" to do this on the fly. May the rest of the season be void of any more disruptions.
Rare Auntiejo Posted May 17 #383 Share Posted May 17 @LyndaMR Thank you for the updates! So so happy for all of you on board that you get to at least go to College Fjord today! It surely doesn't make up for all the disappointment, but it's something. Enjoy!

Well, given that Sapphire does not have azipods, the vast majority of the propulsion equipment is inside the hull, making dry docking unnecessary for anything other than a bent propeller. Since they locked the propeller, they didn't want the propulsion motor that was not working to "freewheel" as the attached propeller is spun in the ship's wake. That tells me it was likely a bearing problem either in the motor or in the shafting to the propeller. Could have been another problem with the motor itself, but those are more difficult (time) to repair. 5

Incredimom Posted July 9 #394 Share Posted July 9 Hey anyone who was on this cruise!!! I am wondering if you ever got your refund. We got our FCC applied to a new cruise, but we never received our refund? I have tried calling and on the live chat and everyone that I reach says they can't help me. It is so frustrating - I am happy about how the cruise ended and we did have a good cruise despite all the missed ports. I did get my refund for my excursions and everyone, but just never got my 75% refund and I can't figure out how to get it. Please help!
samsmith73 Posted July 9 #395 Share Posted July 9 We are still waiting for ours. Our travel agent has been trying hard to sort it but getting nowhere. We're also awaiting our refundable onboard credit.

wallyj Posted July 9 #398 Share Posted July 9 (edited) Hi @Incredimom, the credit would have gone to the credit card you used to pay for the cruise. Since many book their cruises so far in advance, do you still have this card? When the sailing I was on early 2020 was cut short because of Covid, Princess was very quick to issues credit card refund AND post the FCC in my Princess.com account. Sounds like if you got your FCC already, they should have also submitted your refunds as others are posting they have received. I would send email to Princess to follow up. customerrelations@princesscruises dot com Edited July 9 by wallyj

I believe I received my refund while still on the ship, or at least by the time I was home after my red-eye flight. As Wallyj mentioned, check which credit card you used to book the cruise, and remember that the refund amount is 75% of the cruise fare, not including taxes/fees. If you used a different method of payment (cash, if that’s still possible) they’ll issue a mailed check, which takes a lot longer.
