Is MSC Seascape really THAT bad?

Just got off it yesterday.
The boat is beautiful.

We all thought the food was great and had no major complaints about food, just small personal preferences on it.

The design of the interior cabins leaves a lot to be desired. The bathroom is the worst layout of any boat I have ever been on, before you sit down, open the cabinet door under the sink to give a tiny bit more legroom.
The layout of the ship itself was odd to us as it we different than anything else we had been on.

Felt like too much space was given to yacht club and not the rest.pf the people.

You cannot walk around the boat in a complete circle at all on any deck, deck 8 is the closest you can get but you are walking thought the upscale steakhouse outdoor seating to do so on the port side.
Many small design features made us not want to go back on it but we had a great time while we were on it.

The X Edge class ships have a great walking track, but it is not MSC. I prefer Yacht Club to the Suites on X. Their pricing is out of this world, and they have not perfected the "ship within a ship" model the way MSC has. X has tried to add MSC things, like private drop off for Retreat Luggage and an escort onto the ship, but they fell short on that, as they did by putting Lumenae on the side of the ship that is so open and loud it is like being in the MDR. I have read they have fixed some of this on the Ascent. We will be on Ascent, but the suite prices were too high. We don't like the window cabin they call a balcony cabin, so we have a rear veranda.

I know the MSC ships are a bit like a maze, but hey, you just deal with it and enjoy all the amenities that are being offered. Where else can you find a glass floor several floors over a pool?

okay - here is one for you from out of left field.

I have looking over the menu's for the MDR and the YC.  If there is a meal that I prefer that's being served in the main dining room, can I get it in the YC Restaurant or should I have my Butler or the Concierge make a reservation for us in the MDR?

I've seen on these boards that you can order something from the main restaurant to be served in the YC restaurant. I know as a gluten free person that on some ships my GF meals would come from the GF section of the main restaurant and not from YC -- if I ordered off the main restaurant GF menu. Instead, I would usually would order items off the YC menu that could be altered to be GF or were GF already. For you, I would say to order it as a "special preparation" in YC. Maybe they couldn't serve it to you until the next day, but you'd know it was made in the YC kitchen with the better YC ingredients.

@Best Cat Mom  Thank you for your answer.   Since this is not a health issue, such as an allergy but just a dish preference, I am not sure I would want to put them through the trouble.  I know that they got French Onion Soup for my wife on our cruise and it was not on the menu.  I asked for it a day in advance one time and it was available every night after that.

One evening while speaking to the chef, I mentioned that my daughter liked something that was served on a different MSC ship with a different Yacht Club chef. The chef told me that he would make it just for her and it was served in the Yacht Club restaurant the next night. My daughter was the only one in the restaurant to have it and I did notice some rubbernecking from the neighboring table when they saw that she had something that wasn't on the menu.

That's us as well.  As impressive as it is that they'll essentially bend over backwards to please, I can't fathom ordering something that's not on the menu (whether it be from another part of the ship, or specifically created for me)....just can't be one of the dudes out of 6k pax who can't find something on the menu/trough to suffice.  I understand the 'I paid for MY vacation/They'll do anything to please US/etc' arguments to some degree, but it's not a degree we have aspired to.  The menu at every feast we've been a part of onboard has seemed to have something we could 'choke' down lol.

My wife is an extremely picky feeder and has, as an adult, started to have issues with a lot of foods upsetting her stomach.  She is the one that finds it difficult to find food she likes, even sometimes in Luminae on Celebrity.   So we're going to see how she does on our upcoming MSC cruise and go from there.

Tell your TA of her food problems. They will let MSC know of the issues and they will deal with them. The most important thing is to communicate. Then MSC can respond. If you do not tell them, they cannot respond and then don't blame them. They will do everything in their power to make her happy. (PS, Luminae does an OK job, MSC does a GREAT job of providing what will make the passenger happy)

If your spouse looks at the descriptions of each option, she'll see what ingredients the kitchen has available. I do a similar thing when I'm trying to figure out how I can adapt things to be gluten free for myself if I really want some of the ingredients. Keep in mind that some items come to the kitchen already prepared, but most are made right there. YC is so accommodating and your server can be your best friend when you're wanting to deviate from the menu.
