cruisinfly Posted June 13 #3 Share Posted June 13 Use "InsureMyTrip.com". You can get quotes and compare from many different insurance companies and see reviews. The prices shown are the same as if you went direct to the the insurance company's website and asked for the same quote.

I was a no show last month and once last year. Both were for reasons other than y own health and woukdnt have been covered by a lot of policies. My mom passed first time, my health not affected. Many policies dont cover a family member who is not cruising with you. I'd consider something like cancel for any reason. I've never been sick and cant board, both times other uncovered reasons.
pcur Posted June 13 #5 Share Posted June 13 I agree with firefly333. Annual insurance is sometimes less than the cost of insuring one cruise with the TA or cruise line. If you go further than 100 miles from home any time during the yearlong policy, the insurance kicks it, and it's not specific to cruising as your mode of transportation. I've used Allianz and GeoBlue in the past.
teddie Posted June 13 #6 Share Posted June 13 (edited) I always look for the enhanced medical package that includes coverage to be returned to your hospital of choice, not simply the closest hospital to the ship. In my work, I've seen too many travelers stranded at a hospital far from home even with trip insurance. I use Travelguard, but there are many out there, as others have noted. I mention this because I once posted a "link" to TIS, but I (gasp!) posted it wrong, and used the word "Trip...". 🙄 (Fortunately, that forwards to the right place! 🙂 ) GC
vwlmember Posted June 14 #10 Share Posted June 14 Tripinsurance.com I used them for a cruise on the Star Princess that was recently canceled. Getting a refund was easy and they were very responsive. I received a refund within a day of providing the cancelation invoice from Princess.
counsdr Posted July 30 #11 Share Posted July 30 I’ve used both Trip Insurance Store and SquareMouth for both cruise and land travel. On one of our land and sea trips, my friend and I got stuck in Seattle due to a hurricane in GA and S.C. unfortunately I can’t remember which insurance company it was, but they covered every penny of us being stuck in Seattle, extra parking in Jacksonville while we had to fly into Atlanta and the rental car we needed to go from Atlanta to St. Simon’s Island when it finally opened back up! Wish I’d kept my paperwork, but it was 7 years ago!
CruisingAlong4Now Posted July 30 #12 Share Posted July 30 You have to decide what you want to insure. I focus solely on catastrophic and [almost] unlimited financial losses. I do not insure expenses that were anticipated and have been paid, If I can't go on the trip, I will be disappointed that I have lost my vacation, but I am not incurring additional financial losses. I have spent money on a trip and can't go. Sad, but not critical to my fiscal health. However, a major medical event whilst travelling - accident or health related- could require a substantial financial outlay that was unplanned. This is what I insure. I don't want expenses arising from my physical health to have a negative impact on my fiscal health.
