kajasmin Posted June 19 #1 Share Posted June 19 Flying from Orlando to Vancouver Saturday night...it was the only direct. We booked with celebrity flights. Now there is a potential strike and I'm really concerned. Anyone know if the strike would impact the US division?
CruiserBruce Posted June 19 #2 Share Posted June 19 I would call Westjet and ask them to rebook you now. Have a possible alternative or 3.
kajasmin Posted June 19 Author #3 Share Posted June 19 They aren't doing that right now...only the things in next day. Also, celebrity flights says it's not at risk yet so no go. I can't afford to pay for more flights.
kayehall Posted June 20 #4 Share Posted June 20 Agreed. We are scheduled on them 6/22 and again on 6/30. This is NOT how I wanted my trip of a lifetime to begin. Share if you hear anything. BTW, I was on the Delta website yesterday doing my ArriveCan and there was no indication that anything had been cancelled or rescheduled.
CruiserBruce Posted June 20 #5 Share Posted June 20 On your other thread, it appears the strike is off for now.

Rare CDNPolar Posted July 2 #11 Share Posted July 2 Have friends stuck in Scotland waiting to come home from 5 weeks away. They presented at the airport today for their planned flight to find out that an aircraft did take off from Canada and started the journey to Scotland, but had to turn back to Canada because of maintenance issues. No pun intended. This is what they were told as they were sent back to their hotels.
Fairgarth Posted July 2 #12 Share Posted July 2 Interesting piece in the Globe and Mail this morning. "WestJet mechanics make only $109,000 on average. Oh, the humanity." Two points: therefore half of them are making more than this (OK, OK, I know the difference between the mean and the median) and that is before they get the raise they have just negotiated. If negotiated is the right word.
kayehall Posted July 23 #13 Share Posted July 23 Has anyone been successful in receiving compensation from WestJet or Delta? There was no notification from either airline and no attempt to protect us on another flight or another airline when getting off our cruise. We had a day room in Vancouver and used that to regroup our way back to the east coast. Nothing was available from Vancouver as it was Canada Day weekend and cruise ships were turning around. Left our day room early to take bus to Seattle. We had rescheduled a red eye on AA. While on the bus enroute to SEA, AA also cancelled their flight. But they rescheduled us for the next day. So, we also had extra expenses for the bus, taxi, hotel in SEA and the airfare. We are getting nowhere with Delta or WestJet. Any help is appreciated!!! Until Delta gets back to normal I would not expect them to be the least bit concerned about your situation. If they get back to normal and you don’t have a newer in. Couple of weeks then you can raise a stink. Of course if your carrier was WestJet you have to del with them. Edited July 23 by zqvol
kayehall Posted July 23 #15 Share Posted July 23 Carrier from YVR to ATL was WestJet. However, they fly this route under the airline code share of Delta. I booked the flight on the Delta website and my payment was paid to Delta.
