Dancing & Music -- what's available on Oosterdam?

One of the reasons we've decided to take a cruise is to enjoy dancing - every night, if possible. We like the basic ball room dances, including cha cha, salsa and swing (don't know disco type, but like the music if its not toooo loud). Anyone know what kind of music is played and where -- is it live. We also love to sit and have a drink in a nice place -- with perhaps a string quartet playing something mellow. Hope we can find some of this on board the Oosterdam....if not all at least some....will make us happy. Any experiences? Thanks all.

You will probably find everything you want - and more. Dancing is offered before and after dinner in the Ocean Bar. It's a good mix of big band, etc... Seek out the Piano Bar, as well as the Explorer's Lounge for an after dinner brandy or cognac and a string ensemble.

Do go to Disco Night. It's too funny! You don't need to know Disco, only how to "move and groove." However, if you know the cha-cha and east coast swing, you DO know Disco. There were many variations of these ballroom dances during the Disco era.

I only wish I were on YOUR cruise. I just got off the Oosterdam and didn't have a dance partner - or even one to share!

about the dancing. Sorry you didn't get to dance at all...if only more people knew how much fun it is. That's one thing about some of the western/country dances (which we haven't learned yet)...is that partners aren't needed. Heck, even some like cha cha you don't always need a partner. Maybe if some day there is a dance theme cruise....more dancing folks, with and without partners will show up!! Thanks again.
