ExtraLimes Posted July 2 #1 Share Posted July 2 [I hope I'm posting this in the correct place!] Hello! My husband and I are not new to cruising, but we are taking Celebrity for the first time this autumn. (Their Beyond ship, to be specific!) Kindly provide any tips, suggestions, or advice you have for this cruise line/ship. We are most familiar with Holland America, if that helps for giving comparisons. Thank you in advance for your assistance. We are looking forward to experiencing something new! [Image Source]
dougocam Posted July 2 #2 Share Posted July 2 The ice cream station that is at the front end of the buffet area has simply delicious ice cream. Eat lots of it. Second, go into the Eden area just to sit and watch the ocean go by. One of the nicer spots on the ship.
phoenix_dream Posted July 2 #3 Share Posted July 2 Can you tell us what kind of cabin you are in? If in a suite it is a whole different ballgame than in non-suites (not saying either is bad, just that one offers so much more than the other). Rare KKB Posted July 2 #4 Share Posted July 2 (edited) Have not sailed Holland, but most other mainstream lines. Have sailed Beyond twice--Retreat (suite) & Oceanview. Eclass ships are my VERY favorite at sea--I love the modern design. The MDR is quite good but their specialty dining is exceptional--tho getting quite pricey. Eden is our fav, but Chef's Table on Beyond was outstanding, as was Le Voyage. Sunset bar is a lovely area for sailaways or evening cocktails. We love the infinity pools on the side particularly a port day when we want to come back to the ship early (or just stay on board!) Eden lounge is a great place during the day--area above the sit down restaurant. Seating is odd there--some uncomfortable pieces. Try a few--some ARE comfy! Eden cafe is complimentary & open for breakfast as well as lunch on sea days. Great buffet alternative. (the walkway into Eden is unique--some hate it, some love it) The shows on Celebrity Eclass ships are top notch--think Imax type theatres. Very dramatic, incorporating more contemporary music. The martini bar is the showcase--it will get busy. Best times are right when it opens or late to get a seat at the bar. World Class Bar across from Al Bacio is often a nice place to get unique cocktails & usually not as busy. If you have the drink package, Cafe al Bacio coffee drinks are included--enjoy them! If you gamble, the casino is non-smoking--which may be a pro or a con depending on you! If you are in a balcony you probably have an "infinite veranda" (except sunset verandas, porthole verandas or suites). This is a large sunroom with a window that comes down with a push of a button. The A/C turns off when you do this & it isn't a quiet mechanism. We rather like it--nice extension of the room. But many DO NOT (some are ambivalent, some really like it). I say try it for yourself & see. (If you say you are in Retreat, I can comment on that) Have a wonderful time! Edited July 2 by KKB

Can you purchase access to it or does it only come when you book a suite? HAL also has a Retreat, but Celebrity's seems to operate differently and I'm not sure how to get in there lol. Only when you’ve booked a suite.

If u book a suite, u have a lounge, restaurant & designated pool & sun deck. It was nice once (heckuva deal), but we’d rather sail for 2 weeks in a regular cabin for the same price. Trevor Fountain Posted July 2 #9 Share Posted July 2 Casino is smoke free, now the only thing that will make you choke is the pathetic odds.
