amypintx Posted August 5 #1 Share Posted August 5 Just wanted to share my experience with travel insurance that might help someone in the future. We sailed on the Norwegian Dawn July 5-15, 2024. Prior to our trip, I had purchased an AIG Travel Guard Plus policy through AARDY.com. The Tuesday before our cruise left we found out that Norwegian had changed our itinerary and we were no longer going to Oslo. I had made a nonrefundable deposit on a fishing excursion for my husband and son for that day. The company wasn't a typical company that does cruise excursions (usually with those, they will refund you if your cruise doesn't arrive in the port). When we got back from the trip, I called to see if that would be covered in our policy. The person on the phone was very helpful but she said she couldn’t tell if it would be approved or not but I should file a claim anyway. She started the claim for me in the Trip Interruption category (since I was getting an error submitting online). To complete the claim, I had to explain what happened, show the original payment, the communication from the company that it was nonrefundable, and the email from the cruise line about the itinerary change. I filed the claim on 7/26 and got notification of approval today. Easy peasy. Highly recommend getting trip insurance in general (especially with all the talk of NCL changed itineraries) and very happy with AIG.
