Are any other eaters of this food here ?

Not stewed prunes, as such. I always associate them with hotel breakfast buffets - and I'm not keen on them for breakfast.

But I use prunes in, say, casseroles, when it needs a bit of sweetness. And, for this Friday's dinner, they go in a marinade for chicken thighs - prunes, garlic, oregano, pepper, red wine vinegar, black olives, capers and bay leaves, They sit in the fridge for a few hours and then it all gets baked.

I've had them in the past for breakfast when Royal offered them on the buffet, but I'm not sure they do any longer. They cut of lot of the peripheral, less popular food items as a cost savings measure. They used to have poached figs as well--they were delicious!

I make them at home…very simple.  Place the prunes and 3-4 thin slices of lemon in a pan cover half way with water and bring to a boil.  Place in a bowl and chill in refrigerator.  They go great with your morning cereal.

How wonderful!!!! That is fantastic news!

I hope you are feeling good and the transplant went smoothly.

I was recently in the hospital for 3 days but home now and am doing much better. My next cruise is a go....wasn't sure until today. So now I can actually start thinking about it.  I leave 2 weeks from today.

And on Silversea I’ll wager!  Lois I’m already chomping at the bit.  It will probably be a year before I’m cleared for international travel…ughhhh.  Oh well…Caribbean here I come!

Interesting. Are the various countries of the Caribbean not regarded as "international" for American purposes?

I think my doctors had more in mind like getting airlifted out of Mozambic.  And yes we do have the US Virgin Islands which are readily accessible from anywhere in the Caribbean.

Sorry to say there has been a set back.  Kidney not performing as it should, I’m looking at 2-4 months to revive kidney.  I’m under going special treatment at Lahey sine a week ago.  They had to reopen my 9 inch incision and drain the fluid and a blood clot.  Off to rehab in a day or two.
