Ncl jewel stingray city GC

Recommended Posts

We will be on the jewel in February 2025

we would like to go to stingray city !

usually we don’t take cruise ship tours because of the  size of the groups etc

but… because it’s a tender port and the times for the tours with other providers make it difficult to get off the ship in time or if you take the later tour then getting back on in time makes it tight !!

there are 3 ships in port that day !!

has anyone ever taken the stingray city cruise tour by ncl ? What is the procedure for getting off the ship with tours booked through cruise

I’m assuming we would have priority tender ?

any info would be very much appreciated !

thanks in advance

We were booked for this in Grand Cayman a few years back but it was too windy so it was canceled, but we rebooked for Great Stirrup Cay and had a blast, small group and easy to do!

Great Stirrup Cay is NCL's private island, so the excursion would be booked through the ship (does not matter which ship).  Your Excursion ticket is your Tender ticket.  Your excursion will gather at a specific time and place on the ship, then led to the Tendering Deck.

Keep in mind that sometimes tendering is a difficult situation requiring climbing steep stairs (not always, but it is possible).  Tendering may or may not be handicapped accessible ( Tender crews will try as best they can).

Grand Cayman is a tender port and if you book NCL excursions you have priority tender times to make the excursion.

We found out before we left the ship that our excursion on Grand Cayman had been cancelled already due to the windy conditions but the tenders were still going and we went ashore for awhile to check out the island

Once back on board we went to the excursion desk and booked the stingray excursion that is right off Great Stirrup Cay Private Island, it was cheaper and a small group and easy to do and still have plenty of time to enjoy the private Island.

I am assuming your cruise has a stop at Great Stirrup Cay?

I have that booked for November but privately with Captain Marvin's Catamaran to Stingray City, starfish cove and the barrier reef. It looks amazing.

He caters for cruises and his tour #5 leaves at 10.30 for 3hrs which is perfect for us as we are there 7am-4pm.

It's here: https://captainmarvins.com/product/stingrays-starfish-snorkeling/
They collect right on the pier and they really look after the cruise passengers, they say if the ship is forced to stop on the other side of the island they will come and collect you.
