Redeeming Carnival Mastercard points so annoying

I have the Barclay's Carnival Mastercard. You get benefits if you pay for excursions with it, and you can use your points to pay for Carnival expenditures...except that clearly eligible purchases don't appear in the list when you try to redeem them. The last time I tried to redeem points it took three phone calls and several emails to finally redeem them. My last month's bill had an expenditure labeled "Carnival Elation" yet the app tells me I have no eligible purchases to redeem points.

 

Anyone else having this problem?

Are you trying to redeem as statement credits under "Pay with FunPoints"?  My last two Carnival transactions show up there as redeemable.

 

I'm currently on a desktop, didn't check the app.

I use a desktop as well and have never had any issues....maybe it is the Barclay's App that is causing the issue.

Sounds like I should ditch the app and try it from the website.

On a different subject.  How many points must you have to use as a statement credit?

Exactly why I use credit cards that give you cash back... cash that you can spend anywhere, anytime.  No black-outs... no changes in the point redemption.  Just cash.

I can't remember tbh, but I think whatever I last redeemed was $750 on my cruise, but I had saved up for 5 years of points.  so takes a while and other cards are better, but for some reason I just stick with this one for cruising.🤔

Def use web page. Easy to redeem, although sometimes it's a struggle to find the right link. 

Also, you have to wait a few days for charges to post before redeeming.
