Hilo to Punaluu road conditions

Wondering if there are any issues with the roads to Volcano NP and on to Punalu u black sand beach. Plan to rent a car.

I've driven that road several times and have never had any problems. Highway 11 is a major highway on the island and is well maintained.  Punaluu beach is beautiful and there are usually turtles.  Before going to the beach you might stop at the Punaluu Bakery for pic nic items.  Cherie

The road to the volcano was fine. If you really explore the park, you might not have time for Panula.
