Your BLT looks great - that would have been my choice, although Rich's french dip looked really good too! Waffle fries aren't found too many places anymore, so that was a plus as well. Nice photo of the group of happy cruisers!

I'll post my photos from our dinner last night with Rich @richwmn and Sue first, then will read all the posts.  It was a very fun time and we really enjoyed meeting Sue.  We like her Rich!  And I'm so glad she will be on our 28-day Alaska cruise next summer.  🙂  We enjoyed meeting Connie and Steve too (they were also on the GANZ, and I remembered seeing them around the ship but never met them during the cruise).  They were staying at the same hotel that Rich and Sue were, so joined us for dinner.

Rich looks so happy here!  And we’re happy for Rich!

@Cruzin Terri Happy Birthday!

We had lunch today at the Pinnacle Grill.  I had the lobster and it was delicious.

Welcome Home Dobiemom!

Waiting at the airport for my flight home. (@LAFFNVEGAS got me into the Alaska Lounge with her and DH.) Nice cruise albeit overcast/drizzly most of the time. Did the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen shorex through HAL.  I highly recommend it. Won 2 days in a row at bingo. 😁

Next up is the Mexican Riviera in November.

Good afternoon from a cloudy and windy central Texas.  We had a small rain shower early this morning, but not enough to measure.  Our heavy rain is supposed to start about 4 am, and then be on and off through Wednesday.  The good news is our predicted highs will be no higher than the low to mid 90s for the the foreseeable future.  I'll be very happy if we're really finished with triple digit highs for this year.

Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit!

Good morning and welcome to September. We're supposed to be up to 80F today and then cooling tomorrow.

@Cruzin Terri Happy Birthday!

Bon Voyage to @richwmn, @lindaler, @USN59-79 and @Seasick Sailor

Today is my DIL's parents 50th anniversary celebration. Before I even had my first sip of tea the bread machine was started for dinner rolls and should be beeping at me in the next 10 minutes or so. The bread machine is one of those appliances that I don't use often but I love it when I do.

I need to leave by around 11 as it's about an hour drive to the house that's been rented for the weekend. I'm looking forward to it.

Have a great day everyone!

Karen

Karen, enjoy your afternoon with your DIL and her parents as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

ON the subject of letter writing. I'm still a die-hard and like to include a letter in birthday cards especially when I'm paying for postage to Canada!

I still send postcards when I cruise and not just to the "greats" aka as the great nieces and nephew (ages 4-11). I send them to adults as well. I also have a penpal in England who I've been writing to since we were 10 (5th grade) which is now 61 years. We've never met but still write at birthdays and Christmas. We started back in the days of onion skin paper and air mail!

I sent out just over 20 grad cards with Starbucks cards enclosed to former students and received just 2 thank you's in response - yes - 2.

The bread machine is beeping. Off to punch down the dough and form the rolls.

Karen

Karen, it's sad when people don't thank someone for gifts, but at least, two have good manners.

Marcia, safe travels.  We did the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman tour when it was first offered and loved it.  It's one of the best tours we've done.

I have a great appreciation for building and staff code people! Dealt with them many times over the years. They are the last line of defense to make sure things are built to code which is very important in Florida!

Yep husband is a building inspector

Back from the supermarket. I always imagine that people will have been to church and thus dressed in "Sunday best," but most of the other customers looked like they had just come from scavenging at the town dump. I may have been the only person not buying beer.

It's mid day, I was able to do my relaxing soak in the tub and it was heavenly.  I will probably watch the Westerdam depart on the marina cam.  I did that for Lisa/Marcia's trip last Sunday.  I always imagine what I'd be doing on the ship at that very moment if it was me.  Then I get sad thinking about Dear Dad and I stop.  I think it's interesting what some people do when they lose their travel partners, no matter who they are and what the relationship.  About half the people I know retire from travel completely and the other half continue on booking even more trips it seems.  I think it'll fall somewhere in between.  And thanks HAL, so lovely to be paying the full single supplement again....I will get my revenge onboard, when I do a lot more dining and room service.  I got no problem eating for two 🙂

What is that on the deck?! I've been staring at it for 5 minutes and can't figure it out, is it a partition of some kind?  At first glance I thought it was a Beluga whale that managed to jump up onto the ship.

My group had an extremely easy check in. I had arranged for a shuttle at 11:00. We were all ready early and I got a text that the car had arrived about quarter till. We loaded up and had a comfortable ride to Smith's Cove. It is now 1pm, and we have checked in, boarded, had lunch, and my luggage just arrived.

The only glitch I had was one I have had before. For some reason I am about 50% on the facial recognition deal. As has happened before, I had to have someone look at my passport and do the verification. After that it was smooth sailing.

I have watched the Muster Video, and will visit my Muster Station shortly (not currently available) and then I'll be set for the rest of the cruise.

I hope everyone continues to have a good labor day weekend

There are several of those at the bow, nicknamed "The Commodore's Cufflinks".  In reality, they are spare propeller blades.

Home from the Commissary.  People wonder/ask why I don't like Cilantro -- just walking past the produce section if I get the smallest whiff of it I get a headache.  That's not even saying what it tastes like if I get the tiniest particle of it in food.  Thankfully this time the headache only lasted for about 20 minutes.  Usually it lasts much longer.  I wish I liked Cilantro, I really do.  It's in way too many dishes and so hard to avoid.

Thinking of our group on the Westerdam and very excited to follow along!  Bon Voyage everyone!

Oh wow, I would have never guessed that.  They do have an artistic flair to them.

I don't like Cilantro either and I'm often hesitant to eat in restaurants (mexican/middle eastern) that use a lot of it.  Even if I tell them to hold, it's not always possible if the ingredients are blended in.

Does anybody know what time Rich departs?  Nobody is currently commenting in that thread and I don't want to miss it, so I'm posting here instead, he might see it if I @richwmn link him.

Scheduled for 5 p.m. but who knows since they probably have a lot of goods to load today.  Does anyone have any way of checking the current departure time?

He posted his itinerary in his Live From, but I think it says 7, which wouldn't be unusual for a cruise of this length.  I've been on ships that didn't leave until almost midnight.
