Recommendation for Casco Viejo

I will be doing a Panama Canal cruise in January leaving out of port Fuerte Amador.  I’m staying one night at JW Marriott.  I want to visit Casco Viejo. Can you walk around with your luggage? Should I leave luggage at Marriott- go there and back? Or check luggage into cruise -go there then back to cruise? thank you for any recommendations.

Think it would be much more convenient to drop off the luggage at the hotel and then head over to Casco.  If you visit areas such as Las Bovedas and Plaza Francia, there are stairs included, much easier without the extra baggage.

Thank you BillB48. I’m having a hard time with my map and distances. How long does it take from JW hotel to Casco? To port?   I have read not many miles but 20 minutes? Thank you.

"IF" the hotel you are staying at is the Marriott in the Punta Paitilla vicinity or they may refer to the general area as Punta Pacifica is the one with the red pin... Total distance from the hotel to the cruise terminal in Ft. Amador is about 10 miles and without any of Panama City's legendary traffic snarls 20-25 minutes is a good guess.  The Casco is roughly halfway, but always allow for more time for either destination.
