Hi does anyone know if we book 3 nights pre cruise with HA in Sheraton Santiago will there be excursions on offer

if so what would the excursions  be many thanks

I don't know about trips, but you may want to look at booking direct with the Sheraton as it is less than half price of what HAL offer, especially through 3rd party sites such the parent company of CC. We are staying in Santiago in February before our South American cruise with HAL & was pleasantly surprised at the cost of hotels. Somehow, this hasn't filtered through to HAL...

When I was in Santiago in January 2019, I booked a driver and guide through my Santiago hotel concierge to tour me around on the way to Vina del Mar before a cruise leaving Valparaiso.  It worked out well as there are lots of interesting things to do in the area.

As mentioned, TripAdvisor and the like will give you lots of ideas!  It's a very nice area and I hope to return pre or post cruise sometime.

We stayed at a little Boutique B&B called Casadetodas for two nights, then took a Daytrip tour to San Antonio (that was our departure port) for a night at the Casino Hotel.  We then walked to the ship.  The DayTrip excursion took us to numerous stops along the way  which you can choose when you book via DayTrip (wineries,  museums,  Valparaiso).  Santiago itself was quite explorable on your own, just take extra precautions from a safety perspective (no obvious jewelry,  cross body bags, phone tether).

We will be in Santiago in March for a cruise on another line for 3 days with another couple. We booked our hotel directly at the Ritz Carlton Santiago. We also booked a day tour of the city and an all-day Chile wine country tour, both through Viator. We also booked a private transport to the port with Welcome Pickups.

We were in Santiago in March 2023 (Oosterdam)

Transport was easy from the airport to hotel with a pre-arranged taxi pickup.

We stayed here....

beautiful old hotel in the center of the old city.  We spent one day walking around enjoying the old city area.....

The next day we had an early am pick up with a great wine tour before w/drop off at the ship.  Lots of tours that do that.

I'd recommend getting on the roll call and finding a small group to join you for the wine tour/pick up.  Also, head to the South America board for intel on taxis, tours, hotels, etc....

(we do not book any hotel package thru HAL as they are, in our experience, way over-priced)

We enjoyed Santiago...and our SA cruise......

Enjoy the journey

My contribution is old: 2013, so things may have changed. I did what you are planning, but stayed only one night.

There were excursions offered through HAL at the hotel. One went to a winery (Concha y Toro), another around the city and one did the city and a park. There was a HO-HO bus that many took which stopped by the hotel, and a mall within walking distance.

We have stayed twice at The Ritz Carlton and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Don’t book through the cruise line…you are paying double. Lovely hotel.

That's what we were told on other CC posts. We booked it through our Chase United CC Luxury Hotel program. This program has luxury hotels all over the world. We get included breakfasts, Wi-Fi, free upgrades and a $100 food and beverage credit with all bookings. We booked with them for the same price we could book with our Marriott Bonvoy account and we got more amenities. We also booked on the Ritz Club level with club access. We used them for our Hotel in January in Sydney at the Shangri-La Hotel and the included breakfast was worth $35pp each day.

I'll be disembarking in Santiago in early December, 2025.  I'd like to stay there a couple of days.

I'm a senior, solo female.  I'd like to start my research about where to stay and what to do.  That research will include how safe it may be as a solo female to walk the streets (during the day).  I do not speak a word of Spanish (well, maybe hello, thank you, and goodbye), so I'm not even sure I want to book any private tours.  I'll check with the roll call to see if any others are staying and get suggestions from them, too.

Most private tours have a language option so you can choose ones in English.

I believe you will be disembarking in San Antonio or maybe Valparaiso but definitely not Santiago which is an inland city.  It is about 90 minutes directly from the port to the city.  We took a wonderful tour full day tour with the German Pirate because we had a late flight.  Valparaiso was a beautiful city and the wineries in the area were outstanding.

I don't think they'll arrange tours for so few people that might come early.

We arranged a vehicle from the port to Saniago's Doubletree by Hilton.  Great hotel in a superb location.  The concierge arranged the tour we wanted.  The seven-story shopping center is a few blocks away.  We'll do this place again.

If we're on the same cruise, I'm interested in the same things.  I disembark early December, 2025 and would like to stay a day or two and explore.  Not quite a senior, although depending on definition I might be by then and traveling solo also.

The HAL package is a good value for ONE night. Most international flights arrive very early in the morning.  Your room will be ready and you will enjoy complimentary excellent breakfast buffet for that arrival morning and for your departure morning - so essentially 2 nights fully paid. Throw in the transfers ,it is indeed a very good value.  One consideration is that if your cruise leaves on Saturday I would recommend a private transfer with a vineyard stop. This does not hold for Sunday as the vineyards are closed on Sunday and a direct transfer would be best

When I did the HAL package my room was NOT ready and I was told to expect it around 3-4pm. It turned out that I was able to get a room around noon- if I accepted a smoking room. So my wait was about 3 1/2 hours.

Was that in Santiago?  There is a great deal of variation continent to continent depending on prevailing flight times

True on HAL over priced hotels we just experienced for Vancouver where they charging per passenger on a two night pre cruise hotel. Never again, flights with HAL excellent

Yes, the Santiago Sheraton, booked with HAL. Our plane landed around 6:30a (Santiago time). I met the HAL reps, paid reciprocity (it was in effect then), went through C&I and then we waited on the bus until all ~14 had arrived. Then to the hotel- where we were told that the rooms would be ready around 3-4 Santiago time.

Adding- there was no arrival breakfast (at least I was not offered any). (LAN had actually fed us a very nice breakfast before we landed.). HAL did have a desk and rep at the hotel. I was offered luggage check in and a place around the pool if I wanted. (The garden is lovely.) Again- this was 2013.
