Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted June 8 #1 Share Posted June 8 Has anybody cruised to St. Lucia, curious whether the ship passes the Pitons and your able to see the Pitons from the ship?
pete_coach Posted June 8 #2 Share Posted June 8 It would depend what direction you are coming from. You will dock in Charlotte, quite a long way from Gros Pitons.
EatonDoolittle Posted June 8 #3 Share Posted June 8 Yes, millions of people have cruised to St Lucia, as well as the other islands you mentioned. . You will only possibly see the Pitons from the ship from a long distance and yes, it depends on the direction of travel. Holland America captains stopping there always make a point of passing closely and turning the ship so all get a great view. They are the only company that does this, to my knowledge. Ther are many ship sponsored and private excursions to see them.
Harley167 Posted June 8 #4 Share Posted June 8 Yers you can see them a little, but we took a Shore excursion so we could see them close up!
39august Posted June 8 #5 Share Posted June 8 Depends on which way the ship docks I guess. Been there many times and have only seen the Pitons when on an excursion. A good one is the catamaran with a stop at beach on the way back.,

Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM Author #7 Share Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM Hello, question, for those who did the 10 night southern caribbean cruise that went to St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, etc., when you departed St Lucia and continued onto Grenada did you pass the pitons and were able to see it? leaveitallbehind Posted yesterday at 01:41 PM #8 Share Posted yesterday at 01:41 PM (edited) We have not done that specific itinerary but have done a number that included St. Lucia and other islands further south. As long as when you depart you are headed south down the coast then yes, you will see the Pitons. They are quite distinguishable. We were on one itinerary where the Captain diverted into the Soufriere Bay for a closer photo op for the passengers. If Granada is your next port of call then that is certainly the likely route. But our itineraries to Barbados have also been that way. Even with a reverse direction itinerary coming north, the Pitons are a common attraction to view from the ship that would likely be intended. We have also done that. Edited yesterday at 01:43 PM by leaveitallbehind
