Which one would you choose?

Getting a cruise for my parents to Alaska for 2007 and wanted to know from you guys which ship you would prefer and why? The choices I have are the Zaandam and the Zuiderdam. Both do the same itinerary so only the ship is different. If anyone has been on both and can give a comparison I would much appreciate it.

but I've been on the Zuiderdam(Dec) and on the Veendam to Alaska(Aug 2004), and I would choose the Zaandam. I do love the Vista class, as I came home from the Zuiderdam and booked the Oosterdam, got off last week, BUT for Alaska I would choose a smaller ship. Alaska is very special, and I prefer the smaller more intimate ship for this voyage.

Definately the Zaandam. I, too, have sailed the Zuiderdam and the Volendam (sister ship to the Zaandam), I would highly recommend the smaller ship in Alaska.

I've sailed both and would also recommend the Zaandam. It will be easier for your parents to get around in since it's smaller than the Zuiderdam. And the Zaandam's decor is a little more understated than the Zuiderdam, and your folks will probably enjoy the more classic look.
