pts617 Posted June 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2004 Hi all! Just back from the June 12-19 sailing out of New York. It was fantastic! Here is a quick review but bear with me, this is my first review. Embarkation: Couldn't believe what a breeze this was. We arrived at the pier at 11:00am. We were actually on board the ship at 11:45am! It was very smooth. The ship is beautiful. Days at Sea: These are my personal favorites. My only bad experience happened on the second day at sea. Someone was sick and had to be airlifted off of the ship. They completely closed off the back of the ship along with the bars etc..I was sitting at the bar at the back of the lido deck when a security guard asked me if I was done ordering yet. I said almost and asked her what was going on. She said to me "it's really none of your business." Keep in mind at this time I did not know someone was getting airlifted off of the boat. All I saw in the distance was an aircraft carrier and planes doing exercises off of it so you can imagine my curiosity when they closed the back half off the ship the gave me an ignorant response when I asked what was going on. I was mad but I didn't let it ruin my cruise. Port Canaveral: We decided to do the Universal excursion in Orlando. It was great. Took about 50 minutes to get there and had plenty of time to enjoy all the rides. Word of advice for anyone who goes to any of the theme parks while at Port Canaveral...BUY THE EXPRESS PASS NOT THE STANDARD PASS! This will lessen your wait times from 30-50 minutes to about 10-15 minutes. You walk right to the front. Trust me, spend the extra money it's well worth it. Nassau, Bahamas: Very relaxing day. Decided to go out on our own to the beach instead of doing an excursion. Word of advice, if you want to go to Blue Lagoon on your own you have to be at the ferry by 11:30am. We didn't know that so we missed the ferry but it worked out well anyway. We took a taxi to one of the beaches on Paradise Ialand. It was perfect. The waves were nice...water was crystal clear..absolutely beautiful. Afterwards we did some shopping. Freeport Bahamas: Did some shopping here but thats about it. Personally I would have rather stood on the boat but wifey wanted to go shopping. Debarkation was a total nightmare. They said we would be leaving the ship about 8am. We waited downstairs until 9:45am. It was ridiculous but what can u do. One other note, the dining room is beautiful but to be honest I have to agree with a few others out there that the grapes are a little much. Take care...any questions feel free to e-mail me or post here and I will be happy to respond. jima53 Posted June 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2004 Agree completely about the grapes, and people clogging up the downstairs areas to debark was crazy. We knew we had a bit to wait and stayed in a comfortable location until it was time. Otherwise we didn't have any problems with any aspect of our cruise. Lefty1 Posted June 21, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2004 glad u had a nice time - i am going on miracle 8/21 - do u have any pictures on miracle u would like to share - was just curious what time was life boat drill and how long did it take? also did u go into casino and if so, did u like it - anything else u could share we would love to hear - regarding entertainment, food, pool area, other activities
pts617 Posted June 21, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Lifeboat drill was at 3:30pm...only took about 15 minutes. The casino is very nice. It has many slot machines form 5 cents to 5 dollars and a few table games..I think they are let it ride, blackjack and fun 21 which is blackjack without the queens. One thing I forgot to mention before is about the adult pool. They strictly enforce this and absolutely no kids are allowed in the pool. This was great.
